Title: Hinson QC question
Post by: 05450r on July 06, 2013, 09:55:04 PM
I know that there are Hinson and Duncan "plates",but was there any other scribed ones? T&T has theres, and Rath had one for the T&T style, but Ive heard that those plates are a little different and wont interchange, but I also heard they did? Whats the deal? I have 2 Hinson covers but would like to have a Rath plate for one if they made it,Baldwin would be better but Im sure they didnt do one.

Hinson, duncan, and ct are all interchangable. Hinson originally made the cover and sold some to duncan with ducans name on it. After some time hinson sold the design to ct racing who still makes them today. But even though ct racing still makes them hinson still does the engraving which ct won't admit but if you call hinson they will. I have a hinson, duncan, ct, and rath quick change cover. They are all the same except for the rath which has a different bolt pattern. Also I am the one that told you the rath is different. Now this isn't to say that hinson didn't at one time sell rath there's covers mine just isn't the same and not the quality that hinson came out with. Hope this helps

Oh and this may make it more confussing but baldwin did sell one too because I actually bought my cover that says world class ct from baldwin. Balwdin would purchase them from ct after ct had the bought design from hinson but could only get them engraved as ct seeing as they owned the rights. So baldwin never actually had one that said balwdin racing that I know of. If there is one floating around it'd be cool to see though.

Yep,good guy to talk to! I have 2 Hinsons now,my chrome one will be for sale next week. Im hoping that Hinson  did sell a Rath cover,I may just have my buddy call over there and find out if he did or didnt. I have pretty much all Rath and Baldwin accesories,a Rath cover would be icing on the cake..lol If not I will eventually con you out of yours!..Hahaha

I will be selling it complete minus water pump at this time. It will most likely still have the Merrill pump cover as I will probly buy a new one. I want to wait till Wednesday-ish till my other cover comes in. I bought the other one because the cover itself is black,it will fit my color choices better than the chrome, black will more so fit with my black cases and black Boyesen ign cover. I do not have a price in mind at this time. I do not want to turn this into a situation like the new oem fenders thread did. I want to be as fair as possible, but still get what I can out of it. Alot of great sellers out there have been more than fair with me,and I have tried to return the favors as a seller as well. Prices have been $325-$800(which is rediculous imo). Maybe in all fairness it should go on ebay? I dont know, constructive suggestions are welcome! These arent gold by any means, but once the become for sale it sure seems like it..lol

Hinson actually made most if not all that are on the hinson pattern.  Its just that if you put a big enough order in through them they will engrave whatever you want on the plate like ct, duncan, t&t, etc.  Only ones I'm not sure if they are made by hinson are the ones with a different bolt pattern ie: jp, esr

Thats what I was thinking, thank you!! The unknown black cover with the polished plate will be for sale, there is no water pump or wp cover included. To me,the quality of the mod on the black one lools really nice, fully welded.
