So I bought a pair of fox evol longtravels & they are 20.5 length, i already spoke with fox with the serial number... They also mentioned that to this day they have never built a set up from the factory for a trx250r. My houser arms that are on their way call for a 19 1/4 shock. I have two questions, one can i temporarily run them on my bike without messing them up? Second, does anyone know of a top quality suspension shop that can shorten them & setup for my bike? I already talked to gt thunder & they say $250 for the job...

Yes, they can be shortened, but Im not exactly sure how much they can safely go. Call and talk to Andy at Maul Tech Atv. Basically they put in a spacer, so you have the cost for the spacers and service for the shock, might as well put seals in it while your at it. When/if you run them as is, basically the shock is already in a compressed position. In your case by almost an inch, so your initial damping is starting one inch higher in the stroke/progression. Low and mid compressed damping will be sacraficed. Being an air shock you will have a little more adjustment to compensate, but that will throw off the rest of the dampening. So will it work, yeah kinda, will you be happy, nope. I ddot think it will mess them up, but you wont get the full benefit from the shock. Look at Andy's website and give him a call, very smart guy and great at explaining everything!

Thanks bud, I'll call him now

Just got off the phone with andy at maultech.... For $250 he will shorten them, properly set them up, & rebuild them into sec gen evols

Perfect, Andy is a good guy, and a 250r guy as well!! Thats a really good price too!
-
Yea that is a great price I wanna send my fox's to him over the winter to have them rebuilt and setup to match my rear pep.

Send him your pep too, he can make valving to allow it to internally flow alot better, he can turn that Pep into a totally different shock. Watch his video about Pep shocks, good stuff!

Yeah 05450 I kinda misworded it, I meant to say I was gonna send all 3 shocks to him so he can get them working together properly. He seems to really know how to build nice shocks for our 250's so I would like to give him the business.

Yep, great guy to talk to! They also do some machine work including boring carb, splitting cranks, custom shock valving, etc. Plus he carries or can get any Gt Thunder product.

How do you guys like your fox evol's ? I can't find a psi I like in the evol chamber every one says run 150 and I find that way to hard. I am close to taking them off my ride and get something easier to setup.
-
First, an option without paying $250 is cut your shock mount off and build new ones higher.
I love my evol floats. I have them with the dc-4 lt +3+1 arms. I absolutely love the front suspension but now I'm stuck trying to get my rear to be just as smooth. Attached is a pic of my trailer door settings on the floats. (http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/250_3640_2017-04-18_43.jpg)
Make sure you aren't adjusting them while pressure is on them. It does matter. I'm 200lbs and this gave me 7.5" height up front and I had my peg area at 7". 22" fronts and 20" rears.

i have a set of floats that need to be rebuilt. one leaks. what would that cost and who can i send them too?
