Somewhere along the line someone swapped swing arms on a 86R I picked up they put on a 85 swingarm. It came with no rear brake parts. So I found a complete 86 setup.
Just need to know if the carrier is the same dia for both brake plates. I would measure or just try it, but there's nothing left of the shoulder to measure.

Im pretty sure you will have to use an 86 carrier. Im sure an Atc guy will chime in.

THESE ARE THE PARTS YOU WILL NEED TO BUILD 85 BRAKES the caliper is the same as 86 .. I have spares if you need them,,

I am pretty sure you CAN'T USE A 86 CARRIER ,,,, 85 is one year only....

Correct, I thought he meant he was switching back to 86 brakes and swinger and would need the 86 carrier

the brake plate behind the snap ring is the same diameter but the 85 will not work on the 86 setup

Isn't the 85 carrier a smaller OD than the 86? Caliper is the same tho. Carrier IS a 1 year only thing. Honda was great about that stuff in 85 :( (I have a 85 atc250r and 85 cr500, among other toys).

THE BOSS THAT THE BRAKE PLATE RIDES ON IS THE SAME DIAMETER,, its the carrier surface that rides in the swingarm that is smaller on the 85 carrier,,,

I didn't know about the boss part, just that the carrier itself is smaller. That's what I was trying to say. You'll need the parts he showed you to make it work. Listen to Kasey, I'll admit he def knows more than me, especially on trike stuff.

OK great that's the answer I was looking for. I should be able to use the 85 carrier with 86 stuff. If I weld the bung to the side, if not I just need to get a Couple pieces.

YEP IF YOUR GOING TO WELD A PIN ON THE SWINGER ,,, just make sure you mount everything up for placement of the pin, or you might not be able to get the lower bolt in,,,,
