Just found this on the new product page. I know the oem one's have broke alot over the years so it's very cool to have a drop in replacement with the bling we all love.

Pretty trick piece!
-
Very cool and another discontinued part for our 250r's that ESR is stepping up and taking care of for us.
-
:cool:Very nice!! We need him to make some billet hybrid motor mounts!!..Muuwaahhhaaa!
-
I really like how ESR focuses on the discontinued parts as opposed to reproducing parts that are readily available
Bonus points to ESR

That thing looks huge but it's great for the help for the discontinued parts bin. Great job esr

Looks like a good spot to mount a coil
-
that is sweet! looks like you could accessorize that. spark plug holders or something.

I am running a spacer plate motor with an ESR top end, and my stock head stay does not fit due to the spacer plate. What have you guys done to get around that issue?

I've used a smaller bolt and some fine tuning with a round file.

we already got somebody that can do that as u know :D

Yep, another hats off for ESR.
Only problem with me though, :nightmare: :ride: if I get one, I'll have to get four new 8mm bolts to replace the 3 5/16 bolts & lock nuts I had to use because of the threads stripped out on the stock OEM mount .

Gonna hijack this thread a little... When I got my r it was missing the head stay. Why would someone remove it? Is there a benefit to having it or not having it? My engine is completely stock, should I get a head stay or is it fine without?

I got my R 13 years ago and it has never had the headstay on it. It didn't have it when I bought it. I had always heard it would rev more freely without the head stay, and that it wasn't needed. I don't know if there was any actual truth to this or not, just never ended up getting one. Can any one answer this for sure?

It also serves to stabilize the frame from side to side. If you look at the mounting geometry the head stay triangulates the force the motor exerts on the frame. Lots say they don't need it. Some say Honda issued a newsflash in 1989 that it was not really needed. Some bolt it in without attaching to the motor. But I am with the group that says Honda put it there for a purpose. Not gonna second guess the engineers that built this work of art.

I have heard from many, that it would as stated free the engine up to rev easier, but believing that & then trying it until that high compression head & cylinder started breaking case studs off, I reversed my thinking & put that head stay back in place.
I had thought, by the head stay being in place, that if the frame flexed/twisted any it would in turn stress the head & cylinder & cause gasket problems, but with it in place, I've never had to replace a gasket because of it being there, not in all my years of dealing with 250Rs.

I was just arguing about this last night, my thoughts exactly guys, Honda put it there for a reason.
-
Thanks guys! Appreciate all the responses, lots to think about. Maybe I will look for a headstay.

Nice looking piece from ESR for sure. It's cool that a big name company still has us 250R freaks in mind.
