Do they make a 310 gasket kit that uses a headgasket? I picked up a stock cylinder that was re sleeved for a 310 and it had a fireball racing cool head. The head is a gasket type and the stock gaskets are to small. Any ideas? Also, it came with an 88 piston so I either have to get a long rod crank or an 85-86 piston. Is the long rod worth installing?

I have some new 310 head gaskets for the re-sleeve and a complete 310 top end gasket kit. They are the cometic brand. The debate goes on forever long verses short rod. If you just go 86 piston you can find out how well the cylinder works without tearing the bottom apart.

Tony,
Would you be interested in parting with one of those kits? Do you know if the standard Cool head will work on that cylinder properly or must one purchase a head specific for the 310 setup?

The dome needs to have clearance whether its a cool head or OEM. Just as the center of the gasket is over 72mm the dome must have the lip cut at 72mm-74mm for clearance. It is easily done on a lathe. I grab those gaskets today. What is the piston size?

71.95 is the piston that's in it. that seems like an odd size but this BB stuff is new to me! LOL

Anyone know where I can get a 71.95 piston in the 85-86 style?
