Title: 1989 Dune 250R in the Stable
Post by: havinnoj on December 30, 2013, 12:03:25 AM
Picked up this 1989 framed trx250r today to add to the stable.  I'm planning to use this as a foundation for a new build this summer.

Stock frame and front end, pro-x esr powervalve 310, pwk carb, boyseen reeds, hinson clutch and quick change cover, esr pipe and silencer, +8 swigarm, Lonestsr axle, LSR antifade, LSR carrier, 10p extremes, ims pegs, lots of chrome, etc.

Came with a bunch of other used parts.  Hasn't been ran in a few years but fires right up.

She looks good!! Some nice go go stuff there! This isn't that one from CL a week or two back?

I found this one on Craigslist but it wasn't the stock one in Eugene close to Tony.  This one does have some red race cut oem front fenders. One side has some decent cracks but the otherwise and hood are good.  Not sure if that would be of interest to ya Jon.

Thanks man. It came with a billet set of a-arms, spindles, tie rods, etc - looks pretty slick.  I'll probably sell it so if you know anybody interested send em my way!

I saw this R on the local cl. Congratulations on the score, it's always nice seeing these bike's being purchased by fellow members & not by sap's that wouldn't know what to do with them.

Looks nice, like it has already been redone. Great start for what you are building?

It needs more motor, suspension, and shiny stuff!  Since I'll be down in Miami until mid-May, the major rebuild will be a ways out.

I picked it up yesterday so haven't had a chance to really run it.  The motor is a old style ESR PRO-X 310 PV with stock ignition.  I'm waiting on a CR mounting plate from ESR to show up so I can throw in a CR250 ignition.

Are you going with the 02-07?

No - I just saw the 07 last week.  I have a full 01 CR250 just waiting on the mount.

Thanks guys. Pulled the Pyramid reed cage and reed spacer off today. Forgot what a pain the Boyseen setup is with a open air filter. Think I'm going to sell those reeds and put V-Force's with a UPP intake.  If anyone wants the Boyseen reeds, shoot me a PM.

Is it a rad valve?

Yes I believe so Jon.. Besides replacement reeds, did they make another type of reed cage/valve assembly?

Yeah he came down quite a bit. It was a good buy for what I plan on building.

Nice looking quad. I think I spoke to the previous owner and he spent quite a bit of time and money on the build
