Title: Would there be any interest in a high flow CF intake and aluminum box for the 250R?
Post by: troybilt on January 16, 2014, 09:20:10 AM
I've got alot in the pipeline but thought I throw that up there if there is any interest.  I know there is several different configurations that would be needed.  On the lower volume stuff I could definitely do a handconed stainless one, i.e. the Roll Lobo's.

You can see the one I've done for the 450r if your not sure what I'm talking about.

I'm just trying to prioritize some stuff.

Thanks,
T

I would definitely be game for that, especially if it fit up to the carb easier than the old hard rubber boots do now. Plus, I really want to keep an air box. The conditions I race and trail ride in are too nasty for an airbox eliminator kit.

me too. The stock boot may work great but it don't fit for $hit on the larger carbs and as ryan mentioned...it's stiff as a board. CRF, YFZ, ABC I don't care as long as it's an airbox and boot that will fit the carb and inbetween the shock and frame. the AXIS rear shock body is wide in the area and makes it difficult to get anything other than the ESR intake to fit.

Count me in on the 250r intake and would consider buying 2 if that is possible.  What do you have in mind for the carb side?  I'd be interested in the airbox too as long as it fits like a CFM.  I don't care for my UM box but love my CFM.

Troy, I'd be game. Maybe some sexy cf air scoops. Then I'll take a complete cf plastic set!

But seriously, I like your cf intake. I've seen your air box and it's sexy.

Still working on the details with the airbox, had a issue with the design and had to make a few changes.  Apparantly the press brake couldn't do what I wanted it too, lol.  I'm also getting is quoted locally.  The tube is not as smooth on the inside as the outside.  Still working that out with Jay

Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing (and buying) the finish product.

As far as the Lobo intake I could do a hand coned stainless one, but I don't have a chassis locally to go off of.  You guys should try out the YFZ boots on those they are really thin around the shock area and then would only need to develop a box at that point.

I tried the YFZ boot to see how it would fit and with a stock linkage R the shock angle is to great and it hits the bottom of the boot.

I actually have a yfz boot on my stock bike now, I don't have the same problems you speak of.  There is a ton of clearance with this setup.  Only issue is I had to make a box cause the OD of the filter end is much larger (which can be a good thing).

hmmm. I'll double check again when I get everyting back together. might be the angle of the Rad valve causing it to hit?

What airbox where you trying it with?  This is an airbox I made that is made for the YFZ boot and sits really high in the subframe.  That might be part of the issue.

That Yfz intake looks like a great idea. I need to take another look at it...

I think what fouls it up is the metal extension Doug uses to fit the oem air boot.

Troy I would deff be intrested in something for a lobo with an air box. Whether it be stainless or what. Willing to wait till you get some of the 450 stuff done however.

I sold my yfz setup with my hybrid.

I'd be willing to hand cone a few intakes out of stainless if I had a bike to use or some way to get dimensions...
