Title: Hondzilla
Post by: 1986quadracer on January 17, 2014, 11:58:28 PM
The most powerful production atv engine in the finest frame. What more could a guy ask for? It maybe sacrilegious but it is MY bike.  I am the one that's gonna be passing your butt on the trail:) Anyway the project has been going on for about two years now. The engine building was, well, a nightmare but the motor is home and just about ready to fire up. The frame looks to be an old race quad. The frame should have been sent to the scrap yard but everything is fixable. It was repaired using fire and molten metal:) lots of new parts. The wiring and electronics are in the air box. Pretty much the only hold up now is a pipe now. There have been many things in my life that were never accomplished but this is gonna be riden. I can't find anyone with a jig so it looks like I'm doing it. This will be my first pipe. Hopefully one day this site and fellow friends will give me knowledge to build my own from scratch and not copy someone else's. If Jerry does them that would be way sick. Thanks a million!

Arlan, at LED was building one of these for a guy a couple years ago, so you might try him for a pipe??
 Thanks Higgy

That is my bucket quad. Arlan has a template for the pipe you need. I spoke with him about it around a month ago. Give him a call. He's very easy to work and talk with.

Sweet! Thanks for all the positive comments. Hopefully Mr. Ness will be up to the task. And hopefully this bike will eat a few Banshee.

Had the same trouble witn making a pipe for the pilot cylinder. Got a new pipe and cut it 2" from the exhaust manifold. Then cut a pie shape on the small flange to angle the pipe in the correct direction going around the frame. ESR pipes are real cheap to work with. Its hard for someone else to build you a pipe that will fit due to variance on where it is mounted. You may end up welding in a spacer or cutting it shorter in the straight section coming right out the exhaust manifold.

The only way to build a custom pipe on a hybrid is to have the bike in the pipe builders shop.  I have never seen two identical hybrids and the parts seem to never interchange.

Arlan can build you the pipe and not weld certain sections ie, header, stinger, mounts. That way you can position the pipe to where you need it.
