Title: Counter Balancer Bearing Holder - Billet ESR
Post by: havinnoj on January 22, 2014, 02:29:05 PM
Anybody run one of these?  Any other billet counter balancer bearing holders better than the ESR one?  It'll be used with a CR250 ignition and I don't have much experience except for using OEM and Hinson billet ones in the past.

i dont think you need a billet holder if your stock one is good, i like the billet holders with adjustable pickup coil mounts with the stock ign but the cr250 ign does not use the bearing holder for the pickup coil

Yeah like you say, no need for the adjustable unit with the CR ignition.  My main reason for a billet one is to prevent rust out here on the Oregon dunes which seems to come after a few seasons.  I need to replace the whole ignition in the R I just picked up and it's pretty well rusted so I'd rather not use that.

Honestly rust probably does not hurt anything, as long as the magnets are good, stator wire is good, the timing tab is clean and gapped to the pickup coil it should work just fine. they have muratic acid rust removers that remove and treat the surface.
But then the cr250 ign is awesome so its a good excuse to upgrade!
