I remember back in the late 80's and early 90's when just about every 250R picture of a XC bike had a set of Ohlins piggy backs. Kind of an iconic look. Actually something I'd like to do for my retro 86. Are they still making ATV suspension?

Yes they do, I think fronts are like $1800 new check their site. Also a member just listed a set yesterday and there are all 3 on ebay right now used.

Any idea who sells them new? All I ever see are Axis and PEP.

I know there are better options. It is all about the look as crazy as that sounds. $1,800 is something that will make me look elsewhere though.

I still use Ohlins on my 90's style XC bike and the 400exs. There are better options out there these days but I'm very nostalgic with some things. If you keep your eyes open you can find them reasonably cheap. Laz at GT Thunder rebuilds them if needed.

No plans to race my 86. It's all about recreating the look and feel of those bikes I dreamed about in Dirtwheels and 3&4 Wheel Action as a teenager. Call me crazy but that's where I'm at. I'd love to get my hands on an old pro bike from the day. I'd probably put it in my living room. GT Thunder is a 2 hr drive for me...I'll make a point to get over there sooner than later. Thanks!

wow ,1800. I paid under 600 back in 88 .the parts guy at our local hangout was so excited when they came in that he left a message at my house,my wife busted me for lying about ordering.from then on I told the truth

Ohlins have come along way. The ttx shocks are amazing. New technology retro look.. it's in, do it.

Baldwin rebuilds the OEM stock rear as a PEP using an Ohlin shim for what its worth. I'd be living in the wood shed if I pulled the trigger on $1,800 shocks.

Yes Ohlins is still around and make one of the best and lightest front setups available, Ohlin's TTX's, just not as well known since its not FOX. Jay at FWC was a dealer, not sure if he still is or not.

If your gonna run ttx shocks call Broc at Ballance racing. He sets them up really close and will help you over the phone or at the track. I ran two sets setup by laz and Broc. Both worked amazing but Broc is a little easier to get "human" answers that we can understand lol.

There is a huge difference in the Ohlins I use from yesteryear and the Ohlins TTX...hence the $1800 price (that and 20 yrs of inflation)
Fearless:
I remember those days of the $600 Ohlins... Seemed like back then it took years to get them after you ordered them. But what a difference over worn out OEM or Works.
Killer:
Are you saying the Amish robot (Laz) isn't human? Haha

I got the stage 4's, wish they were 5s! Another old school shock would be Stadium, harder to find the old versions, but a good shock thats always overlooked. The newer Stadiums are killer, but always get overlooked as well.
