Post by: hickwheeler on February 04, 2014, 08:29:31 AM
Hello I'm a new r owner in wa. I just picked up a 88. It has a ct330 motor in it with a fmf  fatty. It a really clean bike I can't wait to start tinkering on it. Thanks for having a great forum.

Very cool.  There are a number of members on here that just ride the Oregon dunes.  We'll have to get together for a ride this summer!

Here are some pics like required. It's an 88 with ct 330, oem plastics. All in all in pretty good shape I think. I got some old oe plastics with it that are cracked. I think am going to race cut the front to put on and run. Probably get aftermarket rear. Than store these

Oh man, what a nice looking bike. If it was my bike I would run those pretty fenders. What good are they if you don't use them. I picked up a new set race cut 10 years ago and they still look awesome. Welcome to the site where you can get good advice from many long time members.

Welcome to the wonderful world of R's. You'll love it here & probably quickly get addicted like the rest of us..... You have a very nice 88, congratulations on getting into the coolest atv's on the planet...... I'm with pumashine, run the fenders that are currently on it, unless you spend a lot of time in the woods.

Love the bike! Seems like that FMF would be restricting that BB! Open her up!

I hope to get out to the Oregon dunes one day.... Wether it be now, before kids, or later when kids are gone, i want to make a dune trip and hit Glamis, Vegas, Oregon. It'd be pretty fun!

I'm not to ocd. Just would hate to screw up this plastic. I like to do the hole shots coming up out of the trees in Oregon. Me and some friends are going to try to do a day trip to sand lakes next month. Was suppose to go to Winchester but I can't make a hole weekend trip. Love riding in Winchester during the winter.

We are going to the dunes 7-14-20 and 9-8-14 this year. since the -Big Dog (motofool250r) will be working, we have a lonely R that has to wait for the wildcat to catch up...or tow it back to camp...would love to ride with more R's!

I'll aim to make it down there during those times.  Keep us (me) updated as it gets closer to the trip and we'll see if we can coordinate schedules a bit!

did a day trip to sandlake Saturday. was not a good trip for me or the R. was doing a wheelie was feeling really good went to far and couldn't get the rear break applied. went over back wards. instead of it staying straight it pitched sideways and cartwheeled me and bike. Broke both balljoints off left side and bent steering stem. I just ended up bruised from were I slammed to the ground. It ended my day early. Just have never had any of my other quads react this way when having a wheelie go to far. Oh well will fix it and get back out there

It is why I said sorry in advance. But I was just out measuring on the frame to make sure I didn't tweak it. And did find two old looking cracks.
