is there a difference in length between an 86 and 87 swingarm? I was assembling my 86 and noticed it looked different than my 87. I'm just wondering if my 87 has been shortend. The 87 measures about 17.5" from pivot to axle and the 86 is about 19.
Need some advice as I don't know what I want to do. The 86 I am going to sell when I get it back together. My 87 is kinda like my dune bike but I only go once a year. I mainly dune and only drag a few times (grudge match). When I would race I couldn't keep the front down off the start so I know the longer one would help. I mostly ride my 87 at our property on open trails and dirt roads. Its fun to be able to loft the front wheels pretty easy in the higher gears. Do you think I would lose this feature with the longer one? what would you all do?

Also I have +2 +1 a-arms if that matters.

If you are measuring with carrier and axle installed, the difference could be in the eccentric( chain adjuster )

yes I was. But what i noticed is the space between where the dog bone mounts and carrier housing is different. I'll get some pics. Is the rear suspension supposed to be the same for 86-87?

Yes, the one on the right has been shortened. All 86 and 87 are the same except the decals
