Title: engine troubles!!!
Post by: switchrider on February 13, 2014, 08:42:32 AM
rebuilt bottom end late last summer and just got my top end put on. got it running last night after just a few kicks. problem is it will not idle at all unless the choke is on, also it wont come out of a bog. it doesn't want to get into the high r's? mabey it just needs to be broke in a little more? or my jetting is way off? Any help would be great!
thanks Dalton.

Clean the carb, if you need the choke on to run it means the pilot circuit is plugged.  you need to completely dissemble the carb including pulling the pilot and main jet along with air screw and spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner down all the passages, then clean the jets and reinstall them and the air screw and you should be fine

may have some dirt in there. if that doesnt fix it then i suspect one of your circuits is to lean. pilot or needle or both. mine has similar problem every year if i try to fire it about this time of year with summer jetting. wont even run with choke off. youll be able to tell from the sound. with choke up it sounds normal then gets lean tingy noise when its pushed down
