Most overheating problems are the result of insufficient air flow THROUGH the radiator or a plugged radiator. Remove the radiator cap and look at the tubes for deposits that are visible through the cap hole. Look at the front of your radiator for damage from gravel and mud peening the fins over or a radiator that has the fins full of mud or debris. Make sure that your air scoops and rubber scoop on the bottom are present and properly orientated. Many of the aftermarket grills, bumpers and number plates hinder the air flow THROUGH the radiator. The 250 R will not tolerate very many seconds of running around in 1st gear without overheating.
Does anyone else run the OMF rad guard? I just installed one and haven't had any overheating problems but I wanted to see what people thought about it blocking the through wind like Jerry is talking about.

I haven't ran an OMF guard but I have ran the less-restrictive RIS Designs radiator grill on both stock ported and big bore Pro-X motors and never had overheating issues.

Thanks OJ. Hopefully some others chime in as well. Like I said, I haven't had any problems yet but Jerry's comment has crossed my mind.

Hard to see but I've got the full OMF set up. Shrouds and radiator guard. I've never had an over heating problem with my 330. I do however, have an AFCO radiator.

The 250 R were not designed to crawl around the woods, that is what the Big Reds were made for.:hurt: I do not usually see customers have a heating problems with 330s even with stock radiators if they can keep it out of 1 gear other than to pull out of a corner and start shifting gears.

We run the full set up on our Duncan 340pv with a stock radiator. Never had a over heating problem on a mx track. Like Jerry said you need to keep moving.

If your style of riding requires that you may spend a few minutes crawling around in 1st gear and then a few minutes of riding above 30mph, increase the cooling system capacity by another gallon or so.
The increased capacity will have to be inline with the coolant that is constantly circulated. The new tank will have to be cylindrical with rounded ends so that it take at least 30 psi.
Increasing the coolant capacity will take it forever to warm up but will help the overheating issues during those brief periods of low speed riding more than a larger radiator.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I haven't had a problem yet so that's good. I just wanted to see if it would restrict flow and if anyone had any thoughts on it.
