Title: Fullbore fenders (latest email)
Post by: croat1 on July 08, 2013, 05:57:09 PM
so I figured i'd hit up Fullbore to check on the status of making 250R fenders (again).  here is what I emailed them (over the weekend):

hello:
any updates on making fenders for the trx250r (red and white).  i'm in desperate need of them.  willing to negotiate $ on a one time run for me?

I did recently purchase some blue ones from you.

thank you for your time.

AND THE RESPONSE WAS:

Joseph, we are working with our supplier to receive Red, White & Black this winter.... (October/November)

Sorry it will not be sooner than that....

Grant

this is pretty much the same response I have been getting for the last 2 years or so.  i'm going to continue to ask until I get a firm NO from them.  I know we have discussed this numerous times before....if you are in need of fullbores please call and or email them.  hopefully one day they will make the fenders again.  by chance is anyone local to them???  a visit in person might help.

later
joe

I keep sending Grant emails time to time as well and he's never said no, just can't give a time.  If he does make them again I'm going to buy a few sets.

Thanks for checking again.  When and if they make them again I'm ordering a few sets.  I need new fenders for all my quads sooner or later.  And I still like Fullbore the best.

Has anyone ever got ahold of them on the phone? I've called numerous times and left messages with no response. I didn't even say I was looking for 250r plastics just said I'm Interested in plastics they sell. Might be part of there problem they don't call people back...

^^^True statement. I blame Carlos for screwing up my riding buddy's motor, now I have to wait for him to build another bike.  I might have to place a CL ad asking for riding buddies.

Maybe you can get Carlos to meet up for a ride with you on his 363R:)

Carlos doesn't ride, he's busy writing code for his CNC machine. He's got six cylinders to get done before Ashtubala, and when he gets those done Ricardo and Karl will be polishing their hands off. Bahahaha!

probably with this stuff!

Wayne, you'll like this.  Looking at some of his old threads on the other site and I just laugh...sorry for derailing this thread.

Comment & Questions:

Had my engine rebuilt by BDT Motorsports in early 2009 (Bad Dog Toys Motorsports). My cylinder was on its last leg, grooved, little or no compression. BDT bored, honed and Hard Chromed the cylinder, matched a Wiseco Piston and BDTM custom made plated rings (BDTM has full machine shop)...motor runs stronger than ever, awesome compression. Had lots of 250R's, this one is at the top of the power output list for a 250cc displacement.

Question: is anyone else running Hard Chromed Cylinders? I have been told by the owner of BDTM they will outlast anything else, any comments based on experience or knowledge? Looking at my piston and rings shows NO wear, lines or grove…

Saving my 250R cylinder, honed, chromed, custom rings came to +$650...not inexpensive, however; worth every penny to date for performance and longevity.

Carlos.

Back when racing was booming around here at least up till 2006 or so I sold quite a few sets of fenders.  My Dad and I still have a small repair shop on the side out in the country.  We used to or maybe still are a dealer for Fullbore.  Problem is I have not placed a order since ~2003.  And back then we got them for $400 a set plus shipping.  And back then that was quite a bit higher than like say Maier's.  Now I don't know what they would be today.  If I could get some and have them drop shipped to you guys I would.  But with shipping nowadays it does not make sense to have them shipped to me and then shipped to you.  I will have to get a hold of them and see if our dealership is still valid.  Some places drop you after not ordering for so long.  I do know with alot of this stuff from there is not alot of wiggle room when compared to like atv galaxy prices.  They are very hard to beat...especially on their LSR stuff.  In that sense places like EBay are killing the small business owners.

I think it's come to that, group buy and get a deposit together so people don't back out last minute.  I think there are enough members that we could get s descent order together.

Great idea but the tooling alone is $ 10.000 to $ 15.000. then the cost of the product to produce. I just spoke to them on the phone. Big OUCH

The problem is shortly after you get going you will see some out of your molds being sold direct from china 100.00 per set shipped. lol.
That is a big risk.

You would need to order 100 sets or more and then maybe they would be interested.

I agree. Not even sure 100 sets would do it. I know I have read a few times that Fullbore is a company that just makes plastics as a side to their real business, so if it is not profitable, they are not going to do it.

I know I tried to get a set of Fullbores about a year and a half ago. Even called them direct and spoke to someone. (Everytime I called, no one answered. After trying a few times a day for a couple of days, I finally left a message. Next day my call was returned.) He really seemed like they are less then interested in producing fenders for the 250R. After the conversation, I decided they did not deserve my hard earned money, so even if they were available in the future, I doubt I would buy a set.

We've all been bugging them for well over a year now and I doubt it will ever happen.  I gave them my CC number, signed up for 4 sets, and told them I'd wait a year and they wouldn't book the order.  At this point, we can only hope that someone like Maier or Laker is trying to buy the molds.  Remove the pretty fenders, slap on Maiers, and get back to riding again!

They should atleast do a run on one color. They for 100% sure would sell but they probably dont want money tied up moving the units(obviously)

Do realize that that the cost of plastic is like the price of gas. Always creeping upward. Then there are the companies that will try to produce it at a lower cost, and the quality suffers.

When I talked to them and received a new set of orange and blue less than a year ago  they said they only have one shade of each color.  Meaning all their plastics whether it be utv or raptor or 250r, etc...  uses  the same color (all red is the same red) .  This is what he told me. So I would think they are making little to no plastic for anything.

here is the latest...I emailed them inquiring about full fendered fenders in white and red (no response).  with the rumors of them being out of business I sent another email:

MY EMAIL:

hello:
sources tell me you are closed/out of business???  i'm the one that kept inquiring about trx250r fenders......so if by chance someone is still checking emails.......sell me the trx250r molds.
or: if you are still molding for industry how about making 250r fenders under a private label (me)?

last ditch effort on part to get a great product back on the market.

thanks

FULLBORE RESPONSE:

Joseph,  we are still in business but still only have blue and orange available at this time.   We are still working on a plan to bring in red, white & black although it has not been ordered as of yet.

Thank you for your continued interest and we are working on a solution, it is just very expensive to bring in the minimum material order required by the mfg of the plastic.

Yes that is correct. It was Jason Moore A.K.A.  Pdxbigfoot. He has posted here and FB that when he goes by, fairly often, the building is empty no lights on and not a car in the parking lot.
