Hi it's been awhile since I bought a new hot rods 4 mil striker crank. Is the lower rod area still ground down on these so they clear stock bore cases?
While I am at it how can I tell on a 363 cc sphinx motor if my crank is a 4 mil crank or not without taking the cylinder off is there a measurement someone can give me? If not will take the cylinder off

Remove the gas tank and spark plug take a straight heavy wire like a coat hanger or tig welding rod. Make a mark at TDC if you have the stock flywheel you can guess by looking at the factory TDC mark. Then roll the crank down to BDC now make a mark and measure the distance between the 2 marks, it maybe a little off but you should have no problem seeing +4mm or not

Okay never thought of that I have the motor out of the bike and the head off so I will take the ignition cover off an bring the piston up to top record and then drop to the bottom and mark and measure thanks

Piston zeros at top dead center so I just used my calipers for a measurement with piston at bdc looks like 76 mm thanks for the help

Hey, little tip.
If your in the market for a new Hot Rods stroker or regular stroke crank, be sure the one you get is the new models, those in the yellow box, not the old red & white box.
The new models are better cranks, tins are a bit better quality so less chance of a tin coming off.
