Title: Quinn's 86
Post by: Quinnlt4 on February 24, 2014, 08:36:16 PM
Well I have had my R for two season now and after a year of collecting parts I finally took it to get them all powder coated. the final product is almost at hand. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/25/7yqemyvy.jpg)

This is how it started a completely stock 86. Added some 450r shock and some shrouds. Think they might be some pumashine shrouds but bought them used. And some Laeger +2 Aarms. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/25/e9yhu9yh.jpg)

I added a full pumashine 86 gusset kit which I have no installed pictures off... And some pumashine ressi clamps for a stock frame and stock. Shock was revalved by a local shock guy. He wanted to experiment on my rear shock which has a lot of 09 yfz rear shock internals. Performs great.

Dude looks good! Thats come very far since I last saw you at Silver Lake!

Who welded your gussets on?  I am thinking about doing the same for next season.

One of my dads friends is a professional welder. He charges a small fee, but does an awesome job. No booger welds. When I saw you, mark and Colin at SL I only had my R for like two weeks. It didn't like the 8paddle haulers and my terrible attempt at jetting the new 38mm AS.
I have gotten better at my jetting and my motor is going under RBs knife as we speak!!

Well I was going to run a stock jug 80 over with a +4 mil crank. I have the jug and crank but a few unexpected medical bills put a stop to it this year. So just a 28year old piston and bore. Hopefully next winter I can get the motor put together.
Plactics are the OEMs that were sun baked and had two cracks but i used the pieces I trimmed off the fronts to fill the cracks. Then sanded and sanded and sanded. Few layers of clear coat brought the shine back.

Mounted up the LRD pipe.  Just need a few more odds n ends and I should be able to fire it up. Looking forward to the differences between the FMF and lrd pipe and the switch to the CR ignition. Hope it's worth it!

It's a jettrim custom. I almost did the hump seat but didn't think it would "flow". It's carbon fiber on the sides with an anti slip on the top with red stitching. One of my favorite pieces.

The plastics look good in the picture. They have some cracks that I filled with material I cut of the fronts and welded in. Good rider plastics. Hopefully I can get my hands on some white laker plastics.

my wife will leave the garage door open when I am at work and the dog outside. So far the kill switch that can with my cr ignition, the dust cap on the bottom of the frame for the steering stem and a radiator hose all found their way into the yard with teeth marks and missing pieces.... Was able to replace 2/3. The dust caps are hard to come by and pricy.

Update: tried to start it up today. 6th kicked and roared to life. Only problem is I am leaking coolant, think I have a cracked hose. And on my lrd pipe there is an exhaust leak at the adjustable part. Guess I didn't put enough sealant on. All in all I am happy that my used CR ignition works!

Well, the coolant leak was coming from the top fitting on the radiator. Cracked it somehow over the winter without know. It didn't leak when I took it off. Either way I got an ASI radiator off eBay. It's slightly larger and it runs a few degrees cooler, fit well except for my radiator grill guard. I am happy with it especially for $69 shipped.
