Title: My 87 rebuild
Post by: red88r on July 09, 2013, 12:33:11 AM
Bought for $1400 off craigslist years ago.  88-89 rear arm on it.  Frame was imo beyond repairing.  Was all cracked from running wrong swingarm and no headstay.  Motor runs good but has a crack from swingarm hitting it in rear.  Tore it down and bought a frame for it.  Been collecting parts here and there for it.  This is and will be a slow build as I currently have some repairs to do to my 88 also.  It is the grey wheeler in the before pics.

Looking good, I've always loved the white and chrome color combo for a chassis, just looks clean (only problem is keeping it that way).

Keep up the good work

Thanks fellas.  I did do some work tonight but didn't have the camera out there.  I'll get pics tomorrow.  I cleaned up the axle and found out it is a RPM not a LSR...sweet!  Put the bearing carrier, axle, brake stay, antifade and rear rotor on.

Thanks Barry...it is actually a LSR that is like textured black.  I bought it used somewhere.

This has been on the back burner pretty much.  Although I did pull the axle out and trade it for some parts and put the bearing carrier in my 88 roller.  Took the LSR axle/bearing carrier out of 88 roller and polished them up and put them on this build.  Also got a used set of fenders and seat cover for it.  And a Duncan 265pv motor with pipe and silencer to throw in.

Time for a update.  Can't believe how time flies.  In the meantime I basically built another stock 88 and re-did another 88 so this got put on the back burner.  I managed to find a new motor for this and a whole lot of other used parts in the last year.  Here it is as it sits now.

I will have to upload some pics on this build. Still not done yet but have all shocks on/front end lined up/handlebar controls are also on. Slowly but surely.....lol
