Title: 450r rear master cylinder ?
Post by: dirtyd on March 08, 2014, 10:59:35 AM
I need a rear master cylinder and the 450R ones seem to go for less. Plus being newer less chance of needing a rebuild. Anyways whats all needed to use on the 250R? I know I need to swap out the rod or extend the 450r one. Can I just swap out the master cylinder or do I need to use the resivoir cup/hose and the brake line to the caliper for the 450r? Or will the 250r parts attach to the 450r master? Just wondering when i purchase if I should look for just the master or one that comes with all the lines.

I have a 450 rear mc. All the 250 lines and reservoir hook up. I used a metric rod couple and a metric ending stud to extend mine. Worked fine.(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/42_1136_2017-04-18_8255.jpg)

I used a 450R m/c on my 88 trail bike.  I just attached the 250R lines, and reused the pushrod from the 250R unit. No big deal, just remove the snap ring and swap parts.
