I picked up an FL350 Odyssey for my uncle (fairly rough) but this thing has a Mikuni and I've never been around them. Seem pretty simple about like a Keihin. I read the snow mobiles used to run these carbs....

Mikuni TM carbs are great carbs and are just as easy to tune as a Keihin, he is a description of the pro series:
The Mikuni TM PRO series flat slide high performance carburetors provide good improvements in flow and power output over the TM series of carburetors. Along with the standard features of the TM series, the TM PRO series features a hand machined venturi area for higher gains in flow and velocities. Comprehensive testing proves the TM PRO series outflows many other mass produced carburetors by a minimum of 10% or more. Because the hand ported venturi allows higher intake velocities at lower RPM's you see superior gains in torque and this results in a smoother and wider powerband. Available in sizes ranging from 24mm to 40mm they cover a wide variety of engine configurations. I run these on my ysr50's with good results. 24mm. Before I had my trx's all I ran was mikuni. Same tuning process a keihin.

Based on the little I've messed with, (over the passed weekend) they seem like pretty good carbs. Same or analagous components to tuning as a Keihin, just sucks I've got about 150 bucks of jets, needles etc.. for a Keihin and nothing for the mikuni's. I was just curious why you don't see more running mikuni's vs. keihin's on the R's.

used to run these on my FL350, great carbs and more tunable than a Keihen but not as "trail " friendly, as they require more tools. If you get a chance, let me know what needle jet, needle , and main its got....I believe I still have a new jet kit for that carb I never used, woke it up a lot! as a matter of fact, Im running one on my R right now

some the honda dirtbikes had mikuni. only thing i didnt like was it took 2 people to adjust the idle because it was a regular screw with a jam nut. i want to say it was a tmx model or something like that if i recall

I had a TMX 38mm on my 310. It was a good carb and I didn't have any problems but after I installed a Keihin AS 38mm it was a world of difference.
