Hey fellers I picked up a set of old, non-long-travel A-arms and would like conformation that they are made to use the stock 250R shock length. Also what spindles are used ? These arms are the non-gull-wing models. The arms use ball joints. Thanks folks. I'll try to get some pictures up asap.

Most likely stock spindles or 400ex spindles. You'd have to mount the a-arms and measure the compressed and uncompressed shock lengths to know for sure.

Pics will help me compare them to the ones I'm using.
I have a set of Roll from around '95 or so on one of my stock 89 framed R's.
That particular bike uses those arms with OEM length Ohlins and '86 250R spindles/hubs/etc.
The arms themselves are also OEM length. For reference, it's the white R in the pics that killer250r posted for me under the XC section.

Thanks for the replies... I didn't wanna reply till I got my pictures taken. If anyone has experience with these arms I'd love to know the shock length and spindle information. The seller I bought em from told me they used stock length shocks. My Rolls appear to be about an inch longer than the stock arms. Do the '86 spindles use a different geometry than the '89 spindles ??

I'd send Doug himself a email with your pics. My guess is 88 oem spindles. DRD&D back then.

why '88 ? I thought all years spindles used the same geometry. I've emailed Roll Design and no one ever replied back, thats why I started this thread.

86-7 spindle is different from 88-9 tie rod arm is higher on the later yrs
I remember saying to myself I wish I could have suspension like that, but ran a no link ...
It's really a guess as more of his suspension stuff started showing up around '88

After looking at the pics, those are the same style arms that I have.
Mine are standard width (this was a 90s pro xc bike), use 15.75" length Ohlins, and the 86 spindle setup as stated.
I never have got a definite answer on why the 86 style setup was used on this bike. The 88-89 spindles are generally preferred.
If I remember correctly (it's been a long time), Doug moved the shock mounts on these when compared to OEM.
Also, as of last year, Paige at Roll Design could still get Doug to dig out replacement parts for these.

I have sets of '86 and '89 spindles, I'll try em with the '89s and see what that looks like. I'll let yas know.

That must be why the 86 spindles always seem to dig into the a arms.
