I traded for this from another member and purchased it as described " stock link 86-87". I ended up selling it with my part out.
I sold it on eBay and received an email from the buyer claiming it's no link and only for an after market frame.
It looks to me to be a stock link but I'm no pro and I thought most aftermarket frames used 88-89 geometry.

This isn't a complaint about who I got it from because I believe it to be what he said.

86/87 stock link all day long
-
That's what I thought.. Just waiting for the guy to call me so I can tell him lol

Kevin The pic on the other forum also looks like the linkage mount is off center, and the carrier section seams too narrow....
if not for that then ya standard link all day.. but it just looks a little off
show that last pic on here maybe someone will verify its standard
-
Yeah he says it's 3/4 inch off. What could that mean ? (http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/35_1638_2017-04-18_9359.jpg)

it could have been an 88/89 pivot mount for a no link frame...then cut down to 86/87 style pivot

86-89 link (sans cr500) or no link were always centered. Almost looks like some hack weld job.

I would be very surprised if that swingarm came from a professional shop, you can see all kinds of inconsistencies with it. The powder coating is covering allot of welding and grinding I bet.
-
Well then I am waiting for the guy I got it from to explain... Still hasn't responded
-
If you blow the picture up 400% you can see someone has mig or stick weld the rear section along with the shock tabs but other areas seems to be Tig welded so my guess is this arm started out as a short typical MX swingarm from some aftermarket company and some one has cut it and extended it 4" and for what ever reason moved the shock mounts to the left
Sorry but that swingarm is not worth even 100.00 in the condition it is
-
My 86-87 +4 LSR standard swinger looks close but there are a few discrepancies to be a LSR
-
Hmm is it time I drop the sellers name yet? This is just great...
-
You probably should because if they tried passing that off as a legit aftermarket arm I would hate to see what else they are trying to pass off
-

no get in touch with him first and get his side..im sure you would want the same respect
-
I messaged him before I brought this up anywhere else. Still no reply
-
Kevhes I clearly wasn't looking close enough. The spread in the front appears to be 86/87 and the linkage mount has the proper front to back distance (compared to no-link) but it does seem to be off to the left. Could it be for something other than a 250r
-
I really hope not I got it from a member here who I'm told is a good guy, I'd love to give him the benefit of doubt before I get angry. I got this is trade, and unfortunately abandoned my build. Now I look like a bad guy to the buyer on eBay.
-
I'm not trying to come off a a dick. So don't take it that way.
This is not the first time I have seen something about you selling a part and the deal going sour. Its important to disclose everything you can when you put up an ad. Its unfortunate that in the end you look like the bad guy. Sucks all around.
Your pictures are not the greatest. The linkage mount sure looks like its off to the left if you ask me. That would say to me this is not a stock link arm. I would think cr500. Others are saying the welds don't look great. Pictures would kill any questions of weld quality.
If I knew nothing else about you other then your selling or parts I would not buy anything from you.
I really hope you get this all straight. If you were the buyer I'm sure you would feel about taken.
Good luck with all of this.

Have you not read any of this? I got this in trade, had it no longer than a week and sold it. I AM taking care if the buyer. I disclosed to him everything I knew about it. I DELETE the pictures of items I've sold so this is what I have. I'm trying to make things right between 1. The person I traded this from. And 2. The person I sold it to. If this is what everyone agrees on as junk, I got ripped off too. Here's all I knew about this swing arm.

Have you not read my first line? Have you not read my last 3 sentences? I'm not making a judgment on you. I think this is a shitty situation and currently your the bad guy. Which is shitty too.
Like I said good luck with all of this.

I am the one who traded for the swing arm. I bought it from a friend who bought it from LSR. I added straps on the bottom and the two gussets behind the shock link cross member for reinforcement, then ended up taking the swinger for payment on some other work i did for him. My friend mounted this to his 86 frame with stock link and stock shock and ran it for a season or 2 in the dunes. I am trying to get a hold of my buddy to get any more info on the swing arm. The swing arm had welds ground down uncleanly before i ever touched it and the carrier was reinforced which I originally disclosed. Kevin and I have already discussed this through text. I am not trying to pull a fast one on anyone and will do everything I can to get the best info i can for Kevin to get this straitened up.
-
^^^ that is true. I never meant to make him appear bad. Lots of frustrations here but overall he has responded and is helping me out.

Sorry man I'm sure you can imagine the frustrations here. I do my best to be 100% up front and honest and I do whatever I can do to make things right if there's an issue.
-
I would like to see a picture of the back part of the swing arm where it meets the carrier housing, it looks like someone used a mig welder or stick welder to weld them together. If that is the case then there is no way LSR did that and both pro-fab and Kevin should have noticed that before ever selling or trading this arm to anyone JMO
-
Was it not that obvious to you that it wasn't what the original seller stated? Also, What if the original seller had no idea just as you did about the swing arm? I looked at the original sellers post and do agree his pictures are horrible and actually angled to where its hard to tell that the shock mount is off, but seems like once its in your hands you should have been able to tell.
I hate this for anyone, I buy and sell just as you do and these situations suck!
-
here is the orig post from pro fab, sorry but that swingarm looks like crap!

I'm no expert on "mig" and "tig" welds... And I've only had one other aftermarket swing arm. Never had a lonestar either. The pictures I have are limited because I took it that day along with 100 pics for photobucket. Jason is going to get the swing arm this week and fix it. He can then update me
-
Also the paint isn't powder , that was no secret, I know that isn't helping it's appearance

I remember that one. I was tempted to get it cause it said it was an LSR. But after seeing it I just moved on. I heard Kev is sending it to PDX bigfoot to work some magic on it.

Kevin and I have discussed this over a nice mature phone call today. Kevin is a stand up guy, and I would never have the intention of deceiving someone on something like this. We are both in the same position with the fact that we can only go off what the previous person told us. I don't have cash to give him but I am sending him the custom foot pegs from my personal bike so that he can sell them or use them, what ever he desires, to make up for it. We traded the swing arm for a 400 ex tusk axle and stock hubs. We were both understood that neither was a "show piece" I disclosed the poor grinding and marks on the swing arm but was a functional piece. He disclosed the peeling sticker and chipped chrome. The part that neither one of us was aware of when we sold or traded the swing arm is that the link was not going to line up. If I would have known that I would have disclosed it. Again man all I can say is I am sorry this happened, I have stressed out about this since last night when I found out there was an issue. I will send out the pegs on Monday.

Well, Jason got his hands in it today, checked it out. Turns out the swing arm has been weld, grinded, and warped. The swinger had a slight twist in it (1/8 of an inch) and even with Jason trying to help me out, he decided it isn't worth him trying to repair it. He considered it a 250$ paper weight. So as much as I tried to stay positive about where it came from, I got screwed over too. No big deal, I'm giving the guy a full refund and the buyer and I worked it out. big THANKS to pro fab.
-
You guys are not the only one's that this happens to. I bought a +4 stock swinger on ebay. It was powder coated and had all the stock decals back on it. Looked just like OEM. I get it here and measure a 1/4" twist and one side is 1/4" shorter than the the other side from the pivot bolt to the carrier. I also have a $250 paper weight.
-
It is what it is, oh well though luckily the buyer was understanding and isn't too upset and is waiting for the refund patiently
