Title: Axle Bearing carriers
Post by: 86Rrider on April 21, 2014, 12:54:39 PM
First off, if this belongs in one of the specific topic locations, please move it for me moderators.OK, had my 3rd axle bearing failure in about a 2 year time span, so I'm looking for a replacement. My original OE carrier was damaged by me trying to cut the frozen brake hub off my original axle. The replacement I chose at that time was a LSR double-row bearing carrier, not billet. That one lasted 8 years before self-desructing and taking out my axle as well. I got a replacement OE carrier from JamieG that he had removed the inner bearing seals and installed a grease zerk. That went in with a Dominator RPM axle in 2012. Now the bearings are shot in that carrier.I'm thinking, based on my LSR experience, I may buy another one. However, it seems I've seen a few billet carriers out there for less money. What are some of your experiences with billet bearing carriers? Let me know what you guys are running and what you think.Oh, I ride a lot of trails every year and travel out of state to rather mountainous ORV parks. So my machine sees a lot of use. Basically, I'm looking for something that is not going to leave me stranded.Thanks.
