Psshhhh, its not even polished very well. I can still see scratches in it. I expected more from the highest trained polishing monkeys.

Does not say what type of epoxy they used to glue it together. Last I heard Carlos said they all eventually leaked. We also have a policy at .org that bans advertisement for BDT. But we will let this one stay.

The crack?
Or what looks like a black spot with a ring around it? You could always just buy it and pretend it is perfect!

the hinson cover is still my favorite  quick cover.. time tested and proven too bad hinson got out of the 250r business,
id love a 8 disc setup...
there were rumors that they might make an anniversary cover but im not sure if it will actually happen.

these are getting kinda hard to find in nice condition, ive heard that CT still has a few full covers, but I don't think they have any of the small quick covers
can anyone confirm this??

Barry, you should ask Redred55 as he works as a CT dealer I believe. He had told me we could get a price break at 10 covers. I believe all 10 smaller (outside) covers would be the CT racing ones unless they were left blank. I am going off what we discussed 2 years ago.

I forgot you talk to Carlos all the time. You might know more than the average Joe like me. Pete was asking me if I could make the outer cover. The making of the outer cover is a job separate to itself. The more pieces made at one time the better the price. I don't remember if they were $60 or $80.  I think $80. It would be cheaper yo make them all the same. CT probably only runs a few extra's at any given point in time.

On a side note Pete said he would get a couple done also. I think the price was around $250 on a 10 part runs with the outer covers being extra.

^^^ read the description. Its not welded. Says its epoxyd in. Not sure if that good or bad. I rather have it welded in.

If Pete can have these done I rather fork my money over to him.

Auction ended at $400+$20 shipping. Pretty much going rate for these covers from what I have been seeing.

The prices are crazy on those things. If you do not want a polished one just get one of these. Loved mine. Std bare finish or powder coated, and no epoxy lol.

Fire,
Did you polish that yourself? Or had it sent out. Sand cast takes a lot of sanding to get smooth. It looks great.

Thanks... Yes, I polished it for 69ss396 a member here. I've done two now and it's not quite as bad as I thought it was going to be. Each of them had some casting pits or holes that I couldnt sand out with continuing to remove to much material . But overall turned out good. As much as I love the Hinson covers I have two hanging on the wall that I bought off the boards. One of them you can't keep the water pump bearing from coming apart .I've tried three different impeller shafts and it it leaks at the cover plate. The other leaks at the cover plate . I've tried new orings and Xring , machined the plates , so I have 750 dollars worth of wall art. Although seeing companies doing the covers again makes me want to get one.

Tim, do you think the problem with your hinsons are problems created by the modification? I bought one a while back and have not installed it yet. It is going on my rider. Are both yours genuine hinson modded ? I hate to think I bought a piece of "wall art" also. It won't kill me if I did, but I would like to use it. Ha Ha Ha

Hey Tony, both my covers the ring has been nicely tig welded on. I'm assuming that's an original mod. I dont think it's the mod that causes the leak but mostly likely the covers laying around not bolted to anything and who knows what piled on top and warp. I'm not saying they all leak I'm just not willing to spend the kind of money they are bringing on a unknown .

Good point, why are they selling it? I like my ESR clutch cover and even started sanding one of them. But I lost interest in making it shine. I can see where it would cost $150 to get one polished.
