I always wanted a puma or saber. What would I have to do to upgrade from a sphynx to a puma or saber? On my sphynx 363 motor? If so any recommendations?

I would think you be would be ahead money wise by selling the sphinx whole, and starting with a fresh build with new LED gears for piece of mind.. but im just guessing

The cases have to be filled with epoxy and bored for the larger skirt. Do not know if this has been done on your Spinx. The main cost difference is the need for a balanced crank as any piston over 80mm is too heavy for the normal crank. Depending on your pipe you may have to get a BB pipe unless yours is already modified for BB. The need for a lockout is also gonna set you back $300. So to sum it up you need , balanced crank, pipe, and lockout. Saber cranks are closer to $1000 I have heard. But I am using a 5mil with the yz490 rod in the minitooth. Shooting for 487cc

the 363 is a 350cc with a +4 stroke, so its the last sleeve size before the epoxy is needed... mines not epoxied

That was true for pro-x cylinders with a cast iron sleeve. The CP Industries Sphinx has a aluminum skirt twice the thickness as a steel sleeve. But these have just recently become popular. Thanks Barry for pointing this out. I am sure the OP knows what has been done with his cases as you guys have the same set up.

I am building 2 sphynx right now and both will have epoxy in the voids simply because I want more area for sealing of the base gasket. The aluminum is pretty thin after relieving for the skirts.
The stock long rod could probably be used for the puma but most guys are going with 132mm KTM or the 139mm and 144mm CR500 rod
the saber IMO should only be attempted with a CR500 rod or the arctic cat rod
so the crank and pipe is the 2 biggest costs for the puma and saber compared a sphynx cylinder
edit: I also want to add that for the puma or saber you do have to bore the cases more than the sphynx
