Only four quads showed up unfortunately. Two were in ATV expert, me in ATV intermediate and one other guy that signed up for ATV beginner. The guys in expert were flying so I guess technically I got third today. I got the gopro footage so after they download I'll post them. The track was awesome but rough. I'm definitely going back for their Saturday night series starting soon. I'm usually a decent starter but my starts sucked today. I need to work on those and fix my pipe before the next race.

That's a sweet looking R, Carlson. That track has alot of elevation changes in it. I really like that! Looks like fun. Can't wait to see the video!

Vids or it didn't happen! :quad:

Thanks Ryan, ya it has a ton of elevation change lol. Well ask and you shall receive. Here's the video from moto 1. The expert riders are the two that completely leave the video a couple laps in and the other guy in beginner ATV is the one I almost lap at the end.

Moto 2. Pipe came apart a little so I slowed down quite a bit towards the end of the race.

Nice job and footage Zak! Like the air time!

Watched the videos, pretty awesome! I don't really think those other guys were that much faster than you honestly. I think they were just a bit more aggressive in the turns. Believe me, I realize that is easier said than done. I hate those 180° flat turns (non-bermed). Those absolutely wear me out, especially if it is a tight track. It looked like you had all the jumps timed quite well. Looked like a good run to me. The only friendly suggestion that I would have is try to stay constant on your throttle position when you are skimming the whoops section. You don't have to be wide open, but whatever throttle position you are at when you go into them, stay at that same position. You may have been doing this anyway; maybe I just can't hear it from the video. One of the local pros taught me that and it helped significantly. You were certainly giving that R hell; I like it! That pipe was ringing out. lol

Thanks Jeremy and Ryan! I agree on my corner speed. The only thing that was prohibiting me from going faster in the corners were the bike ruts. The video doesn't quite show how ridiculous the ruts were so it looks like I'm coasting a lot but I was honestly trying not to get hung up or bucked off from catching one wrong. Good tip on the whoops I'll keep that in mind next time for sure. The first set of whoops after the big down hill were sketchy lol. There were skimable for the first half and then the second half were peaked so it was hard to stay in the throttle mentally. The second set coming back by the starting line was way better but I ended up just doubling through them. I'm not making excuses it just sucks when you can't ride a track to your full potential because of bike ruts. I guess if I want quad lines everywhere I should step up to the nationals haha. Ya I was ringing it out pretty good. I didn't even notice until I watched the video that I was though. For my first time there I'm pretty happy and I know what I need to work on the next time I go so hopefully I will be able to keep up with the expert riders for a little longer.

I know exactly what you mean about the bike ruts! They get ridiculous! You could see that there were some on the track from the video, but it was kinda hard to tell just how bad they were. I have caught a few of them before. It gets ugly. It seems to me that alot of tracks have sketchy whoops sections. lol. I'm not sure alot of owners know how to make them. Either that or they are all supposed to be sketchy, not sure which! I'm going racing this weekend so hopefully I will have something good to report like yours!

Sounds good man good luck I hope all goes well! Where are you racing at by the way?

Bike ruts sucks!!! Saw my friend do a cartwheel in the air because of them. Helmet cam footage looked great! Quad sounds strong and seems to take up the sketchy crap pretty good. I agree with Ryan, you are just as fast as those guys but they are on 4 pokes so they love those tight turns cut they engine brake in and then power out...no momentum needed. Also that track is a one lane track for most of it so you are playing follow the leader and as you know, get into that outside crap you just don't hook up and sometimes its mush! All in all great job and that got my pumped to get out and ride.

It is this weekend. I know Matt Quarles, not personally, but I have met him before. We have been trying to get him to race our series, the SE Quad series.

Thanks JoePA, can't wait for the next ride report.
