Title: Sleeve question
Post by: xTHUNDERCATx on May 26, 2014, 07:36:56 PM
I have pro-x 310 cylinder that needs some care. The outer corners of the sleeves all have little dent marks, I'm not sure what happened to it but i figured I would get some opinions on whether or not it warrants repair or replacing.
Unfortunately these are the best pictures I could get. There is 1 side that is slightly worse but not by to much nothing extending to the inner portion of the sleeve and no cracks that I can tell. Just this scraping/denting starting at the skirt. I'm not thinking it will be much of an issue but i figured I'd ask, If im wrong I would rather find out now.

I would take a fairly smooth file and knock down all the high spots and run it.

you can knock em down with a file if you want but theyre on the back corner not in contact with the piston so it wont matter either way

Only thing you would need to think about, was if you thought the sleeve might be cracked.

A little trick for checking for cracks, spray some WD40 on the area & then spray some carb cleaner on the same area & wipe it off real quick so the sleeve will be dry, then take some bead blasting dust & dash on the sleeve & let sit a minute or two, blow it off & if theres a crack there it will show right up from the bead blasting dust sucking up the WD40 from the crack.
