OK so I got an 86 with a 330 big bore and a +4stroker. Wanting to install a CR 250 ignition system.
I got all the parts, I see there is a timing mark on the ESR plate but not one on the stator plate. Which can be turned a few degrees in relation to the flywheel.
Trying to figure out how to get the timing correct so I don't burn up a piston.
Do I need an adjustable timing plate ?
Can someone linky me some help here. I can't Google the answer I need and ESR didn't respond to my email.
It's a completey built motor only change is cr ignition.

I recently got the 2007 CR250R ignition from ESR, it had a mark on the adaptor plate and the stator plate, super easy install. What year ignition are you trying to install?

It's off an 01 the parts were used. I asked ESR they said someone probably removed the timing mark...
They told me just to center the stator in the holes, which is what I had planned on but was nervous about it...

Here is a pic of the 01. Yes the hole is in the center of the timing plate.

If you flip it over you see the hole in the middle of the slot.

That is a really good place to start. Then keeps close eye on ground strap on the spark plug, keep the burn line in the center of the arch of the ground strap and u will be fine. If the burn line is to close to the base of the plug, retard the timing ever so slightly and recheck. If to close to the end of the ground strap. Advance ever so slightly and recheck. Should help.

Hmm the one I got doesnt have that screw and plate...
Must be why I couldn't see any marks...
Makes much more sense now that I've seen one that has it. I had it on and was pretty sure but couldn't bring myself to try it.

I'm guessing you mean the electrode?
Not sure why it won't let me delete and combine posts either.
