We are planning a family trip to Little Sahara in a couple weeks. The besides whip flags what else do I need to bring with us titles of the bike or what do I need to get the bike inspected or what. Is the month of July too hot to go riding. your input is appreciated? the kids bikes are LT 80 s and do not have lights on them.

Have to have flags on all bikes and helmets on anyone under 18 years old --no titles or inspections they charge 10$ per day to be on the dunes no matter age etc. you must have headlights and tail lights to do night riding they will check those at the gate after dark (if your not riding at night no worries on lights)
Might add you cant ride doubles not even in the camp ground unless your on something made for passengers

I would suggest staying in the south camp because it is flat coming coming out of the gate. Easier for the kids.

You can ride, but will need to adjust your schedule as dan said. Get up and ride at crack of dawn until 11 or so. Sleep/ be indoors/ etc for the afternoon. Might be able to catch a couple hours riding around 6 till 8:30.
With kids they probably won't ride more than hour anyway
For the most part it's not bad so long as you have shade and breeze in camp. But out in the dunes it's miserable.
We used to go roam around town and sight see during the afternoon. They is a cave in Kansas near the ok border 30-40 minutes if I remember correctly.

I lived in Waynoka for several years, and I can attest to the heat and wind during the summer. Having spent two tours in the sandbox (Iraq and Afghanistan), I can tell you it's nearly as hot on the dunes as over there. It's no place for kids during the summer. As I mentioned, the wind is a factor, too. Being so low to the ground, they'll get sandblasted much easier, and it will be a trip they'd rather forget. Believe me, the wind can sandblast you. It'll blow up to 25-30 mph sustained at times. Stick to the south campground, too. The north campground and Cowboy Camp can get rowdy at times because the rangers have to travel to get there. Their office is the first thing you meet when approaching from the south, so they can keep order there easier. I would suggest the fall instead of the spring. Even though the most severe weather is usually near central OK, NW OK gets its fair share. May is very active almost everywhere in OK. During the fall, the days are milder, the winds are calmer, the sunsets are gorgeous, and the nights are chilly enough for a campfire. All of those combine to make wonderful memories for the kids.
