I can't wait to hear how it goes. My first trip the whip kept popping out...so I tightened the you know what out of it. Then the aluminum grab bar broke. After I made a steel grab bar the sub frame broke....at least bring a spare grab bar and whips in case you can't find 'em. It's gonna be soo fun.

If you have balls of steel you can actually squeeze them.....and if you take equal parts from each nut and knead them together you can make the equivalent of JB WELD. HAHA.....It'll get you through the weekend.

Has the head had a decomp  installed in it? That extended kicker shaft looks like it will stress the cases even more than they normally are. Looks nice and good luck. I was interested in hearing some details on that pipe too lol.

No decomp yet, have the valve coming. The case at the kickstarter has been modified to help relieve some stress. The pipe i bought from a member on another site, that had bought a couple of R's, one with the CR500 mod done and this pipe was on that bike. There are no markings.(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/901_2252_2017-04-18_4094.jpg)

I am excited for you...taking your build out for the first time. Like I said before...I'll be looking forward to your posts when you get back. I've had an extended kick shaft on mine for many miles(no decomp) with no problems. Yours is even beefier. I just start mine like a 4 stroke. Go just past top dead...back up and give it. Mine liked the throttle cracked a little. Did you get your carb worked out?
Are you really going with hard mounted handlebars? You are one tough hombre. Post when you can feel your hands again.hahaha

Thanks, your starting procedure is the same for this 86 motor. My 96 in my AFC is no gas get it to tdc and it lights hot or could usually one kick. I picked up a good 38mm PWK from a friend have not had a chance to put in on. The bars, yeah i had a couple of other projects going at the same time as this one and started to run out of time to get this one ready for this trip and never got the anti vibe stem. So if my next post is jumbled and not very legible i have an excuse. I'm looking forward to riding it, i don't think that i have built anything that has not already been done. My only expectation with this build is to see for myself, if it doesn't work for me then i pull the CR500R motor and in goes my LT500R motor.
