Title: Ignitech programable ignition setup
Post by: rsss396 on July 11, 2013, 10:38:44 AM
This is a programmable ignition from Ignitech that I have but have not yet installed on my bike, still some useful info for other brands you maybe setting up.

Is that the DC - CDI? http://www.ignitech.cz/english/dccdip/dccdip.htm

I've wanted to try that one. What flywheel/stator combo were you going to run with it?

I have the dual channel CDI because I run a dual spark plug head and wanted seperate coils for each plug.

SPARKER DC-CDI-P2 race

Programmable two channel capacitive ignition

http://www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm

But when I did my last dyno runs I just used a snowmobile single feed dual output coil off the 00-01 CDI to fire both plug.

The seperate channels is like having 2 differant CDI's built into one so the power output should be higher.

If I was you I would look at the Zeelronic setup for the 2002 CR250 flywheel/stator that needs no battery.

If you do not want to deal with them over seas I know a guy on the CR500 forum that has these made up for him by Zeeltronics, after doing the builds for him Zeeltronic starting offering them for everyone

I should add you can run the Ignitech with no battery by running a capacitor and regulator from the 2002+ cr250 CDI's

It does have a stronger spark with a battery until about 2500rpms then it makes no differance

To add to this the 2002 cr250 stators are lower voltage higher amperage setup compared to earlier years of higher voltage lower amperage.

In my cr500 setup I actually used a lighting coil for the cr500 stators to power the Ignitech along with the 2002 capacitor and regulator

The ignitech can not take more than 18volts to them so you do need a high enough capacity regulator to dump excess voltage at high rpms
