-
Nice looking quads!! I did see these on the sand at the south end on Saturday afternoon. I should have known it was someone from the forum. We are planning another trip in Sept or Oct.
-
I would of liked to been at Winchester instead of coos. Still was nice to get bike out. Was kind of bummed. Didn't see any other r's there.

What dates? My next two planned trips are the weekend of July 11-13 and then Dunefest (July 30 - Aug 3).

I wish you would have flagged us down. Besides Tony & his group, I only saw and waved at a 2 other R's the whole weekend. September & October are a ways away.. can't make it sooner?

Let me know next time you go for a ride at Winchester and we'll try and get together.

Beautiful skies, beautiful sand, beautiful bikes. Epic....I hope it was fun. Great pics.
-
Can those bikes even do wheelies?!? Lol nice bikes. Definitely have always been into those orange fullbores. The dunes look awesome!
-
orange fullbores
I think those are stock! Painted ..... OJ. Ryan did a great job on those plastics. They are still holding up after 10 years.
-
Holy cow you are right! I didn't even look semi closely when I saw that orange. Very nice!

Thanks! We need to get you up here for a ride sometime! Great weekend - this may seem odd but having some clouds / overcast skies help with depth perception.. I actually prefer it when riding!

The orange one has a +4 and has no trouble bringing up the front end. The red one has a +8 and with 10 paddle Extremes it can come up enough but full wheelies take some serious effort. It's too much swingarm for the motor but I bought that R as mainly a parts donor for a coming build :D

Yup - OEM 86 and painted. Might be time to give them a makeover!

Yeah I wish I would have flagged you down, we were heading back to camp to load up and head home. It was an awesome week of riding. Are plans are not set in stone, we have some family coming up from Arizona we are hoping to get down to Winchester in July.
-
well you already set the dates for the 30th so i will try and make that trip. are you gonna stay at the hotel again or camp out?? i bet there is a ton of ppl for dune fest so goat reserve way out..
-
what motor do you have in the orange bike?

I buy everything when registration opens but I'd bet you could still get a sand camping permit. We have a spot in the 3rd parking lot reserved (same one I was in when you stopped by) and hotel reservations at the Winchester Bay Inn.
what motor do you have in the orange bike?
Just a 300 Pro-X originally built by LRD in 2002, reported by Dave Moore, and just freshened up by Arlan last winter. The center cases have never needed to be split. All bearings and seals are still tight! Runs great with a 2001 CR250 ignition, Boyseen Rad Valve, 38 A/S, and Sparks TT pipe.
-
so your saying i need to reserve this spot asap?? and i will try n get a spot at the same hotel.. or may try the sand.. ill talk to my wife and see
-
great pictures! the place looks amazing, they recorded some video?

Great pictures! Specs on the 88? That is my dream set up, droooooollllll

It's usually good to reserve things ahead of time for Dunefest.

Thanks. No videos this time - was too busy having fun :D

Thanks. Here's some high level specs.. Pro-X 300/310 PV ported/serviced by Hybrid, 2001 CR250 ignition, full Hinson 8 plate, V-Force 3 reeds, 39mm PWK, stock frame, Laeger's +2/+1 front end, +4 LSR rear, +8 swingarm.

Killer thanks & I take it has no problems spinning the 10 paddle superlights?

My 120lb "better half" was riding it most of the weekend and with 12-39 gearing the motor spun them just fine. That PV motor makes decent torque in the lower RPM range which helps too. Even at 250lbs myself, I had no issues dogging it on big hills. But I usually run 8-9 paddle 22x11-8's on motors that size and keep some spare sets in the trailer to swap out if needed.
-
damn that looks beautiful and the bikes are nice too. i love the panoramic shot.
-
Can't beat the oregon dunes! I've been to glamis twice & it was cool but to me the dunes we have here are the best. Great pictures OJ, hopefully I'll get to meet some of you oregon guys out there sometime.

Agreed. I've been to a bunch of the sand in the Western USA and Little Sahara / Sand Mountain, Utah is the only area that gives the Oregon dunes some competition. Don't you live in Oregon too!? So yeah, it would be fun to get together sometime out on the sand.
-
I gotta get out there, and sand mountain. It'd be awesome to take a few weeks off and do a full trip to all the dunes.....

Lots of driving for you - guessing 8-10k miles round trip from Michigan. You could hit Utah first (or last), Glamis, work North (possibly hit Dumont and Pismo), stop in Oregon, then head West to St. Anthony's in Eastern Idaho, and head back home.
-
It'd be a ton of miles, but what a trip it'd be! Marc silverlake250r had the original idea and I haven't been able to shake it.
-
I would need to have enough spare parts for a couple bikes, complete motors, etc. I wouldn't want to risk it.
-
Been to sand mountain, and St Anthony, neat places to ride, cool to see the big dunes and my guess Glamis and Dunmont are similar. But you just can't beat the variety of riding area we have on the Oregon coast that these other places don't have and it's pretty much 12 months of riding if you want which is a bonus. I'm more of a fair weather rider anymore but I've been out in a tee shirt in Jan-Feb riding at the coast. It's a great place.
You don't need any spare parts if you come to Oregon, Tony has the parts for you just make sure you are riding with him. Haha

Lol oh trust me, I've thought of that haha. But I'm not a fan of bumming big parts.

I'm a pure bred Oregonian, born & raised here in the valley between you & pumashine. Been riding the Oregon dunes since 1985........ Hey pinned, I have tons of spare parts since I recently bought two big parts lots so hurry up & get your arse over here.
-
Haha just 6k miles round trip from here to Oregon, no big deal for my 13 hwy mpg big block lol

Make it happen! I know danhung11 has wanted to make the trip as well.

Yup same here. And I love the sand when it's wet or just an inch or two of soft stuff on top of the wet.

That's what I thought. Now pinned really doesn't have any excuse to delay planning a trip!

Took a gas motorhome to Glamis pulling a 20' trailer and saw about 8 mpg. I'm getting 9.5 mpg in my truck and am seriously considering getting a diesel. But by the time it's lifted, I'm not sure it'd get much better mileage anyway
-
My truck is getting a cummins when the bbc goes. But it's only at 119k now and gaining about 3-4k per year, so plenty of life left in the ol girl
-
I had to go back the next weekend 6-29. Guess who rides a 250r?

My Snap-on rep is a good friend of mine and lives right down the road from me. A few years ago him and 2 other guys drove his v10 powered motorhome to Glamis with his enclosed and 6 bikes. He never told me exactly how much fuel he burned but he did say it probably cost more than I make in a month. I should try talking him into taking a trip out there to the Oregon dunes.

There is 6 miles of oceanfront to ride on in Florence. Its 30 minutes north of Winchester.
-
i like the tall red headed 88
-
I'd meet up with y'all and help with fuel!
