Uh-oh!! Troy are you hinting at a new Walsh/Crf EFI hybrid???
Title: Hybrids
Post by: troybilt on July 11, 2013, 09:08:20 PM
Better!! LOL! Working on my own design!  Just about finished.  Going to build 3 bikes, 250r, 450r, and CRF, that's the plan anyway.  Frame is mostly 450r geometry narrow front and crf rear linkage.  Going to do 3 identical bikes except for the motors..  that's the plan anyway.

That was rebuilt by some guy TwiztedJH or something like that on the other site a few years back with the help of Jerry(laeger400). I remember he bought this quad from that guy FL-R who got it from Tim Farr like Dan said. It was a pile when that dude bought it and he made it a super nice bike. I don't think he ever rode it as it was for sale the week after the project was done. Glad to see Troy have another Laeger as I am sure he was pissed selling Elly without getting any track time or real seat time for that matter.

Hey, I don't like part of this post.  Can we get a mod in here to delete it. Lol  seriously though Troy I'm sure some "true RED blooded" rider can give you some counselling.

I always missed my hybrid, there's just an obvious night and day difference compared to a 450r. I was never happy on a 450r. If I ever sold my Laeger I'd get another hybrid, and a stockish 250r..lol

I think I probably got one of the first dislikes on the forum.  Just joking on a guy who just built one of the coolest 250rs ever for singing the yfz song.  That is one sweet hybrid Troy.  Your tank looks pretty sweet on there.  Can't wait to see your own graphics on there.

Post by: troybilt on August 12, 2013, 08:51:18 PM
LOL!  Thanks, I didn't hit the dislike button... LOL!  I'm still primarily RED, my new hybrid will be a CRF, I'm just saying that don't overlook a yz if you get the chance...  cause they run really good, they work well in the 250r-hybrids cause they are shorter motors than the CRF's.  The 06 YZ was awesome right out of the box just read the mag test articles on it.  The CRF is no slouch either, I think they have smoother power delivery that's why they feel a little more tame.  The 06 YZ was known to be especially snappy, common mod later years of YZ was to run the 06 cams and 06 CDI.

I agree with you Troy, those YZ motors are nice. I had a Yamaha WR400 and once I uncorked it and timed it like the YZ motors, it ran awesome. Owned that bike for two years and sold it to buy a CRF450. To be honest, the CRF motor just wasn't the same, even though it had 50 cc's more. That motor was strong, miss it even today. I bet the YZ450 motors are even better. At least the old 5 valve head versions, not to sure about the new YZ motors, never ridden one.

Nice quad man, can't wait to see what else you have in store!

Doug

Updated pics of my hybrid after I installed the new graphics.  Tried something new with these graphics, laid up the color vinyl first then printed my logo in chrome laid that on the color vinyl then 19mil clear over the top of all of it so it looks as one graphic.  Turned out perfect.

Thanks Guys the graphics turned out better than I expected.  I was worried about a small air gap around the chrome part cause of the small difference in thickness when the laminate is laied over the top,  There is very very small gap but less than the thickness of a finger nail so its hard to see unless you know what you're looking for.  The template i use is not perfect by any means but it turned out real nice.  The graphics change colors with sunlight, its pretty cool.  There is a lot of layers into this design, I spend a ton of hours working on them.

...P.S. yea I need to get a new seat....   LOL!!
