(This isn't really a drag bike but figured this was a good place to post.)

What would you guys run for a fast duner setup?  6 or 8"?

I'm running stock geometry frame +2 +1 a-arms and looking at 80-85hp.

Right now I have +3 swinger 22x11x8 13 paddle gliders, so I'm blowing the paddles off at the start then hooking good from 3rd and on, cant keep front end down then.

I still like to cruise through the trails a little so +8 seems like it'd be too long.

Any thoughts?

80-85hp? what are you running? i have a 350pv duner with a +7 with 22x11x8 10 paddle extremes and it doesnt lift up at all. i just sit a little closer to the front and take off in second and from there i just cruise.

+4 or +6 for duners.  Have a +8 on one right now and it doesn't feel quite right.  Maybe I'd get used to it for duning but +4 seems to be the best for me in the Oregon sand.

But with that much power, you're going to have to ask yourself if it's more important to keep the front end down or have a better trail riding bike.. I'm not sure you can have both.

Building a 431 1-5 n down alky setup now, the +3 had a 343 alky setup by McCoy. I was taking off in 2nd and if I got a good groove going and really hooked I'd have to practically sit on the tank until I clicked into 4th.  I'm like 165 lbs.  I think a +6 would keep it down just fine, just curious what you guys have had luck with.

plus 6 works great for duning and hillshots even if the sand is wet lots of traction if it starts getting too front end happy . wheeling up hill i just dial in a little more rear shock an seat bounce it to get it upover stuff

IMO, if you build the motor you just listed, the decision is already made to run a long swingarm.  Override, alky, hp expected, all lead to a hillshooter/drag setup.  Yes you can still dune as I do mine (70+ hp) but it not like your bangin berms out there.  I run a +10 but on a trike, quad has much more front end weigh so the +8 may be the ticket.  I wouldn't go any shorter, or your leaving untapped power on the table!!

i would look into some hauler/glider combos. with the correct paddle number they will hook hard off the line, and since every other one is a glider they will still be very light on top end

I may have to check that out, what would you go with on that Puma setup?  I'm at Waynoka, sand is fairly fine down there. I've only ran a few different sets down there and the 13 gliders have performed the best overall.  Had 10 paddle extremes before. Who is the best contact to have them made?  Skat-trak directly?

in terms of your bike and what paddles would work best, you would have to talk to someone that has close to your setup, or talk with the guys there at sand toyz unlimited, they know their stuff. their website is kinda janky but give them a call.

Oh ya I've spoke to that one fella a few times, can't remember his name though. He gets all excited when it's for a 250r.   Thanks for the help.

I always say for trails and duning +8 is on the long side if you want ride-ability for it’s not a straight line bike. If you ride a lot of trails and general duning +4 runs great for all around. Hill shooting and drag racing +8 will be a good length for what your wanting. Another tip drop the ride height down about 2”. Just remember that the longer the wheelbase the wider the steering radius is so tight turns aren't as easy with a longer swingarm. Hope this helps.
