I decided I'd better start building this 330pv jug I've had laying around for a while. Picked up a set of clean 89 cases to help get the ball rolling. I also just ordered a full set of oem Honda case bearings and a few oil seals I dont already have. I already have all the trans which I'd like to get cryo treated and I have an oem crank I'd like to have all welded up. My only question is, to go +4mm or not? I'm still debating or if I'll just got long rod stock stroke. What do you guys think?

if you go +4 you will need to get the cylinder ported for the additional stroke..
it really depends on what the cylinder was originally setup for. And how much you want to spend
-
If you go +4 you might as well get a puma cylinder.... :hyp:
-
I do realize that the porting will have to be setup for +4 crank. The jug is unported at this time and since I already have this jug on the stock bore and what you see sitting in the picture cost me 375$ to my door I'll continue with this prox jug.

Douglas what's up man !!! Glad to see your building that bad boy !! If it were me man I'd just get a nice port job for that thing.. I don't know if you've ridden a 330 before but I think you would be pleased with the power output it has especially being a PV. I hope you have this running the next time I see you guys

Hell yeah Jake! I should have this things running this fall. I am buying a house this winter so it's gonna be a slow going deal. Plus, snowmobile season is approaching and I also am playing with that. I have not ridden a 330 but think I will just stay with the stock stroke. I'll probably have the crank all welded as my main priority with this build isn't really power as much as it being bulletproof. I'm pretty excited about it.

I would do a stroker or short rod, IMO from the quads I have rode with short rods are real snappy compared to long rods.good luck on your build the Rotex power valves are great.
-
Daniel, I have a short rod and a long rod motor and you can tell that the short rod revs quicker. I do like it and have debated just running it as that. Now you have me thinking damnit! Lol.

stoke it man!!! You'll never miss a couple more hundred.....hehe

Hahahaha! Ya, for sure! Thank god bill gates is my uncle. Lol

Nice stand...go 4 mil. Does not cost any extra.
-
I'd either go short rod for revs or go the 4 mil route. No way I'd want a spacer plate for just a long rod. If I'm using a spacer plate, then it would def be for a +4 crank! Just another place for an air leak otherwise.
-
Put a 4mm Hot Rods in it. With the new one I wouldn't worry about it. No need to even have it welded. I run one in my bike and have no issues, when racing I hold it WFO off the rev limiter when launching.
-
Rupp, where can a guy get a for sure newer +4 from? Or is it just all the hot rods +4 cranks? I have a hot rod crank in one of my bike with zero issues so I trust them, just want this to be bulletproof.

Thanks tony! Here is my latest update to the build. All new bearings, seals and bearing tabs for the bottom end all for 130$ not 200+ from bdt. Which I just dont understand. They are all honda.

Also, gonna send the jug and cases to Arlan @led next week for machine work and a new piston.

Another addition to the build. I have an 86 oem crank in beautiful shape but I don't wanna run the short rod so I have to decide to either re rod this one or buy one that need a rod.

I would call around and see what different places would charge to build that oem you have. When I rebuilt mine all the feedback that i got was that the rebuilt oem would be more reliable then a new hot rods.. I ended up sending a oem core to Lauren at Duncan racing and he put a new pro-x rod kit on and sent it back to me for $230. It has proven I be solid for me so far

Nope! Lol. Got in a new top end gasket setup and a center gasket. I'm actually holding off to buy a secret item from a buddy to compliment my many LSR items. This one will be ready for the spring riding.
