What Pat? You bailed on DUNEFEST? I bailed 5 years ago when they lost my passes for the event and gave them to someone else. I had $320 invested/lost in the event passes and parking. 2 event parking passes and 7 event wrist bands. The place was so messed up I was getting a $200 ticket for parking in PL3 cause they gave me a SAND pass instead. I'm never going back.
We will keep the 16 open to meet up with you guys if we can make it that weekend, I still have to give this smartcarb a try.

well i didn't want to exactly.. my wifes car broke down about an hour and half away so had to get it towed and then looked at and I'm thinking its the cat converter.. also i blew a left front tire and i have 24 inch rims on my truck so you can only imagine how much that ran me.. just dont have the funds to go really.. sucks.. but will save up and get some really good riding in on the 15th.. I'm stoked!!!!

We will be sand camping at Winchester that weekend not sure what camp site number but we will be out there

heck yea man we should try n get everybody together and ride!! would like to meet some ppl from here
-
I've got it on my calendar to go that weekend now. Heading to Dunefest Wednesday morning
-
have fun at dunefest. I have only been one time (going to show my age it was 1993 when it was called sandfest down at n.bend) I'm not much for crowds and havning to pay to ride. Sound be neat seeing some 250rs the weekend of the 15th
-
Wish I could make it down there with you guys but I'm on call that weekend. I went to sand fest at horse fall a few times in the early 90 ' s & dune fest at winchester 6 or 7 years ago but I agree with atvcrazy, off weekends are better for me because there's less idiots to watch out for.
-
Agreed. Dunefest isn't really as much about quality riding as it is people watching and enjoying the events.
Let's get a list going so everyone knows who's staying where & when they'll be there.
1. The Kid -- Half Moon Bay
2. patman13mia -- ??
3. Pumashine -- 3rd Parking Lot
4. atvcrazy -- Sand Camping (Spot # ?)

Hey, I'll be out there with my dad the 11th-14th and 19th-21st if anyone's sticking around. We'll be at Fisherman's RV for two weeks, fishing on the weekends in a 22ft Alumaweld and riding the weekdays on my white 89' and his black 450. I'm sure we'll be the only ones at the fishing campground with quads. Haha. We're experienced and fun but safe riders. Old man is 60, I'm 25 with forearm tattoos. Come find us!

Will be rolling into the 3rd parking lot around 10 AM Saturday morning. Putting on the new smart carb today. Pretty excited about next weekend. I'm afraid I'll have too much power.
-
Ok so any changes here? I'm up in the air due to work. Probably won't know until tomorrow.
-
I wont be there.. Sucks cause i want to go just dont have the funds!! Prolly wont make it down any more this year either.. Sorry guys

Can some of you guys take pics of the hookup campgrounds?
If I make it up there next year I will defiantly want to stay with full hook-ups. Even water and elec is good I guess.

Rupp - here are a few options with full RV hookups ordered in terms of proximity to the dunes:
Discovery Point Camp Resort (http://www.discoverypointresort.com/index_002.htm) is right off the sand access road. It's can get crowded and spots aren't huge.
Windy Cove A RV Park and Campground (https://www.co.douglas.or.us/parks/view_park.asp?id=49&features=&cnt=).
Winchester Bay RV Resort @ Salmon Harbor (http://www.winchesterbayrvresort.com/default.htm), while a bit nicer, is further away. You'll need to ride along the main road.

You Guys Better POST some pictures this weekend. No excuses! Let us live vicariously!.. ride on be safe

So far not a good weekend wife's bike broke the cylinder all the way around the base of the cylinder makes me want to cry this big bore stock jug ran so good. My bike I can't get the water fitting on the back of the cylinder to quit leaking water I think it's cracked but you can't see it cold these sphinx water fittings aren't the greatest cast. Might be sitting around camp tomorrow
-
Looks like everyone has bailed. I called the sis and she is going to stay home and work in the yard... I don't care what your excuse is.. I'm going to try out this smart carb. Got my camera but its hard to take pics of nobody. Oh well....

I'll be there tomorrow. Going to try & leave my house by 6:30 so that should put me there around 9-9:30. Hope to see some of you guys there. I didn't have a chance to tune my bike when we went 2 weeks ago (darn four strokes) so I'll need to do some tuning when I get there.
-
I'll be there tomorrow.
The bike would not start after installing the smart carb. It seemed like this happened before and just about hooked up a tow rope for a pull start. I am glad someone will be there  May need a pull start. The 431 puma with high compression is a bear to start when not warm.

Met up with Broken1 around 10:30. Kevin's bike starts first kick while I am huff and puffing kicking the beast over. Then Kevin gives it a few kicks with no luck also. So wee hooked up the tow rope and proceeded to pull start. The bike was loaded from fuel as the throttle cable had been stuck in the open position. Upon starting it revved out of control. Blipping the throttle and checking the cable while turning the idle down it suddenly dropped down to an acceptable level. Spent the rest of the day riding and trying to adjust the throttle. Still won't idle on its own.
ATVcrazy stopped by as they were leaving as one motor had the cylinder broke/cracked the other has a pinhole in the water spigot. Those ones are such a pain because you really can't see the hole but you attempt to get it to seal without knowing it worked or not. Dave did not want to ride around on the warm day with the temps climbing each next dune you hit.
A guy with a couple 3 wheelers parked between Broken1 and I so he pulled his rig around next to mine. The guy wanted to drag race me but I declined as I did not have my tire pressure set to drag and had not done any tuning on the smart carb. I did try a couple hill climbs with great success. Pulling wheelies going over the top. The float bowl was filling fast enough to keep up with the motor. So my main complaint had been alleviated.
The Kid stopped by later in the day as he had missed us at 9:30 cause we about and hour late. His black 88 looks pretty cool. He was riding with some Banshees.
Didn't get any pics. It was a little cloudy but sun burnt the heck out of me. Me and Kevin BS'd about 250rs for a couple hours and loaded up around 7:30. Seems you don't get much done sitting around BSing drinking beer and entertaining everyone in the parking lot. One guy Matt Graves who used to do alot of seat covers back in the day stopped by and introduced himself. He used to build seat covers for 250r's for Arlan when he had LRD. Everyone sees my Chrome LED pipe and silencer and has to ask how Arlan set my bike up.
Kevins bike looks in real good shape. Nice blue paint and alot of chrome and polished aluminum. His dad is a machinist and has all the equipment needed to fix worn cases. He is going to bore out the shift fork holes and install bushings. Some guys just don't have the money for new cases. If you need any parts Kevin just let me know. I will cover you on the paypal if you want something from any member on here.

Had a blast yesterday. It was great meeting Tony, Dave, & The Kid & riding around with Tony all day. Your bike's look killer in person Tony, I especially like your red 87. That puma rip's!... Thanks for the good times, great conversation, kind words & the beers. Can't wait to go riding again & hopefully we can get some more R's together next time. I only got a few pix of our bikes sitting in the parking lot:

I love how empty that parking lot has become on weekends! Bummer to hear about the trouble you all had but looks like some nice riding conditions!
