Anyone out there doing this? I called Direct Drive a few months back and they said they weren't running them any time soon. Not looking for the extended ring one, just stock cover cut for the lexan cover.
If anyone has an Orange cover that would work, I think I can get it done myself. Looks too cool to not try at least.
-
I would be interested in this too.
-
If we can get ahold of those covers I'll definitely mess with it. I have a spare clutch cover to hack on.
-
Didn't motofool make some covers? I don't know what they fit or who's adapters tho
-
fool made some clear and tinted ones for the esr cover..
-
Called Direct again, they said they're 4-6 weeks out before running another set for the non-lockout mod. Evidently they just ran a set and someone bought them all, so someone out there has them!
-
dont listen to numbnuts on the other site talking about ALL DD quick change covers leak at some point. i have ran 3 different DD covers on 3 different bikes for years, and none of them leaked. he is just still standing strong on the leaky quick change fiasco that happened months ago.

not to mention anyone and everyone that runs DD lockups, uses one of their covers.
granted none of these were 250rs, but the general design should be universal.
also why run one those big aluminum hinson style quick change plates that look like they were designed on windows 3.2, when you can run a lexan of any color, and you can customize the lexan easily with a sticker and a sandblaster for an etched glass look :)
-
I could see one leaking if the bolt pattern was spread way out, lexan is only rigid to a certain point. Just from looking at pictures it looks like it has plenty of clamping pressure, heck over tightening is probably the main cause for leaks! Even a thin layer of grease on the oring would probably stop any leaking.
**Regarding my last post, Direct Drive can do the mod now to stock clutch or lockout but they're waiting on the lexan run. So the wait is just for the covers. Just in case anyone was wondering.
-
I talked to Lisa at Direct Drive today and she said they would make these non lockout clutch covers for us if enough people wanted them. Send your cover in and they do the mod and clear cover for 225. I would love to have this over the old style covers. If anyone is interested speak up and we'll see if we can get this done.

I'll probably do 2, one for sure. May have a buddy that'll do one as well.
-
What's the magic #?
-
She didn't say how many but remember this is not nothing new they have done this for years so I would guess 10-15 would probably get the ball rolling.
-
What's the price?

I had one like this and fought with it for a while. I never even ran it because it wouldn't seal up.
-
I actually run the billet cover and it hasn't leaked on me. I haven't tried the Lexan cover yet.
-
I've run the lexon and a buddy to. Never a prob with leaks
-
Does direct drive sell a billet cover as well? I might be in for one
-
was just looking at the listing for the R cover.
http://shop.directdrivecnc.net/Honda-250R-Clutch-Cover-with-Lockout-Honda-250R-001.htm
this is for the modded cover, AND a lockout for only 225.00, but in order to run it, you must purchase their extended kick start shaft for 260.00??? the idea that the kick start shaft would be more than the entire cover and lockout assembly seems crazy to me @.@

Jesse the clutch covers that we are talking about having done are for the non lockout clutch or stock style clutch, no kicker extension needed.

yea i know, but the listing on their website shows you guys are going to pay the same price for the cover without the lockout, as you would if you just bought the lockout cover and got the whole lockout assembly for free.
-
This mod is not on the website, its just another option for a quick change cover other than esr or ct.
-
On raths website they show a Hinson type mod 495$ with a rath plate. Is it just an outed page or do they still do the mod?
Atvfan...can I see the billet cover please?

Still going to be saving $260 not having to buy the custom shaft they make. Is it actually $225 oldschool? I never did ask her for a price for the non-lockout mod.

ya i know lol, just pointing out that they are charging you same price for QC mod only, as they do for QC cover plus complete lockup assembly also :)
-
Don't yell at me Jesse! :( I would imagine it'd be cheaper than 225, I'm sure we can call them out on it and get a break. Unless there is a typo on the site and its $225 just for the cover only.
