Title: Back to the future Build
Post by: Allison#51 on August 31, 2014, 02:14:14 PM
Hopefully this is the last time I have to start a new build thread for this quad! I just moved for the fifth time with it in pieces and don't plan on boxing it up anymore. Next time it goes anywhere it will be rolling. Lol this is my first 250R. I scraped up some cash and bought it when I was 16 I think, well I'm 21 now but I still think it's funny how I took on such an interest in building something that was around before I was even thought of. As far as the quad goes it won't be anything crazy. Stock frame and stock cylinder but there isn't really any detail that I've overlooked and I'm bringing a lot of the newer parts and technology to this old machine. I just took the last batch of parts to powder. It shouldn't take long to get it done once I get a little caught up here.

Thanks! I actually modded a set of 450R Rath nerf bars to fit and propegged them. I thought it would be a new setup that no one else had until they went and released some for us. Lol

Looks real nice

Thanks. This build definitely means alot. I've been trying to get my family and friends pumped up about it because this is more then just a quad it's going to be the start of our race team. Got some other projects started too but this is the biggest priority right now.

Yes they are rath 450R nerfs. I started this build before they came out with the new 250 R nerfs. They weren't too far off I just welded mounts on the frame.

I've been slacking on this thread but here's a few more teaser pics.. Wish I would of took more but the quad is running and rolling. Just haven't rode it yet because I had a little setback.. Hit a tree on my cr and broke my right patella into three pieces. So I was off work for six weeks but I was still able to assemble all the parts that I had and get it started and do heat cycles with my brothers help. Got cleared by the doctor last week so I should be getting the rest of the little stuff to finish this thing up soon. Graphics are on there way and I'm working with Andy at maultech to get my custom axis dialed in then I'll get some professional pictures posted up before I rip on this thing!

Thanks! There's a lot more stuff that I didn't get pictures of but it'll be done soon and I'll get some good ones up of the finished product. There was times I thought I'd never be able to finish this thing and now it's so close and I'm actually starting a couple more builds.. Can't get enough of these things.

Hoosier tires still easy to get? I understand they are no longer in the atv mx tire game. I wanted to try a set

I bought the medium compound fronts direct from Hoosiers website in the discontinued section but I think them are gone now. They have some of the medium compound rears left on there. But I got the softest compound rears From smileys racing. Haven't ran them yet but they are super light and I've heard good stuff about them. Hopefully hosier will make another run of them.

I like the fact that they have different compounds. Goldspeeds also offer different compounds. Before this the only option was tread pattern and size.

Yeah I really like the different options. I'm curious to see how the mx100 rears will hold up cause they are really soft but I think I will need the extra traction.

Well here it is guys. Been a long time coming but I think it paid off. It was tempting at times to just throw it together with what I had and go racing but I think if I would have done that I would of never got to this point with it. It is complete but it'll never be done. I have to keep pushing this  quad and myself to the limits so I can go out have some fun and win races.

Up until now, I felt an R had to have an aftermarket frame to be 100% completely bad ass, you proved me wrong!

Amazing job Allison, you nailed it!

Awesome! Who made the tie rods? Just my opinion but you are going to want some type of shock cover if you plan on riding that in the dirt.

Lonestar.  You mean like a roost guard or full covers? I asked Jason from FourWerx if he had any guards for custom axis a while back and he said no. Maybe I could ask him again to make some.

Nice. Either one would work and I'm not an expert but it makes sense to me to keep dirt out of the shock body lol.

I've had this thing on the scales quite a bit and I'm happy to say it ended up at about 360lbs in race trim. Still have more to shed.
