Title: Drug out the Polonda
Post by: Polonda on July 13, 2013, 11:37:41 AM
Well guys the new sight has inspired me to dig my R out for the first time in nearly two years.  Life's been crazy with purchasing a new house, moving, etc.  My two boys started racing MX this year also which has really consumed my riding time, not to mention they play baseball too.  But thanks to this site I decided enough was enough and dragged her out.  She's dirty and neglected so I'll be giving her the once over.  Started by pulling the carb late last night for a good cleaning and hope to fire her up today.

You should ride that over to all of your new neighbors houses and introduce yourself :highly_amused:

I'm breaking them in slowly.  Started with a mini chopper, then my boys MX bikes, and started my Gsxr1000 drag bike a couple times.  Not sure they really know what they're in for.  So far they all seem ok....but I know what they are really thinking.

That is one of the reasons I like the neighborhood I am in. Seems that every 4-5 houses there is someone that rides something.

I have got to say that is beautiful neighborhood you live in.

yes and looks to me like you have plenty of room in the side yard for an up hill drag strip!

How in the world do you keep that front end down with those paddles and that swingarm? I think black rims would look great on there too. Post some more pics of that beast.

I've never had it on a Dyno but of I had to guess based off othe bikes I've raced it's around the 80hp mark. Really came alive when I switched from the stock ignition to a MSD.

I've been tempted!  Shut down would be in the woods though.

In the picture it has a +6 swingarm on it.  I run that arm with my bar at the track to get more weight over the rear tires. For the dunes I have a +12 I run. But due to a stock chassis and no weight being removed at all it's still pretty Heavy in the front. I can actually sit on the back of the seat when launching and not pull the front tires.  I have the front shocks strapped also(street bike drag racing trick)

Did you ever get it to run right? I thought I remembered you having a ton of problems with this motor, might be thinking of someone else though.

I always thought polandas were cool!

Your thinking of a different member from .net a while ago. I believe he finally sold the motor. No problems with mine!

Can you post some details about the engine.  I'm sure I probably read about it on .net long time ago, but I don't remember.  What bore and stroke, rod, intake, reed cage....  Does it have much low end, or is it mostly top end?

72mm stroke
84.5 mm bore
15.5:1 UCCR
~220PSI
201 exhaust
130-132 transfer(can't remember exactly off the top of my head)
Ktm rod
tins welded
welded transfers
rotax 800 reed box
custom intake
vforce reeds
stock head dome filled and machined to my specs
cylinder bolt hole ears have extra material added so don't brake off
48 Lectron dual power jets and cast dual inlet bowl
Alky
1-4 override trans

Think that about covers it....

All work on the motor was done by me including machining.  Even though the port timings are drag timings this thing has a ton of torque.  Motor runs really well in my opinion, especially since some back yard hack built it.  :wink-new:
