Post by: Frank297 on September 05, 2014, 02:07:01 AM
But not new to the honda 250r. Well will start back when I was 15 my dad got me and my brothers 1989 250r. had it about two years and the cops pulled me over I was giving my little brother a ride. The trx was reported stolen the guy we bought off was in jail... go figure never got it back. few years later i was able to get a loan from the bank. ended up finding a 88 250r
picked her and bought her home. she was pretty. Went trail ridding all over michigan and my place up north near travers city. for about 5 years met a new friend that ended up taking us to a new spot!! SILVER LAKE MI WOW I WAS HOOKED DRAG RACING. No more trail riding that was over. got on the horn on how to make this r fast like the ones in the dunes. Met a guy by the name of Neil from Sabertooth racing i couldnt aford the saber at the time. So i wanted him to build me a honda that ran like his 310 on methenol. so he did after alot of work and money we did it ct pro x atc 295 kit drag ported with all the bells and whistles and tricks he had up his sleave. I made them come out. I was at his house eveyday bothering him. We ended up getting 76 hp out of this little engine on meth and she riped. never got so many stairs in my life. Had a ferrari paint job on her. 2 Yaers went by i decided to move on to the sabertooth what a figgity son of a b...h. that being said while mine was being built neil let me take his down to the planet sand drags what a year 2008 i did really good at these races 2nd place with my 297r ran a time of 4.2 in 300 ft. rode a friends banshee almost broke a recored for the 10 mill cub did break it for a second till a 120 pound kid beat it 3.7 in the 300 ft. Then with the saber 3.9  with out nitrous 3.88 with. thats when the man that did it all for us callvin from CP came running up to me saying that is the fastest pass i ever seen  anyone make on a single cyl. I was very happy to hear that.Long story short i draged raced for  alot of years  got out of it in 2011 sold all my toy had a10 mill cub 2. I held on to the banshee for a few years and traded it for a honda pilot still trying to get this thing to run. but its getting there. And now for queen of the crop i justed picked up a barn find 88 250r all stock except for front and rear bumpers skid plate and twist throttle. love it allways wanted a stock 250r.

First off, welcome to the site! Second, Beautiful find! Thank you for the compliments on my bike as well! I don't think ill ever sell her tho ;)
Awesome drag racing stories. One of my closest friends has one of the fastest single cylinder bikes I've ever seen. Its a Packard engine, not sure of the size or any other specs on it. Haven't seen it out in the sand in a while. Anyways, here are a few pics. From the sounds of it, I think you might enjoy them.

Yeah I think so. I'd have to get the details from him. The bike is mean. He took it to Sand Mountain and beat everything there...including the sandrails!!

Wow Frank we were just talking about you! Glad to see you are still playing with the toys.
i have a 88 just like the one you picked up, it's funny how many people have never seen the stock exhaust on a 250r lol

And for everyone on the forum Frank is probably the best rider out that and that is no joke, he has jockey'd allot of fast bikes

This year there has been very few drag bikes out there, and really just the last few weekends before we could race on the long strip because of so much water.

I think me and the wife are going up with other family members the second weekend in october because my nephew turns 12 that weekend and can finally be ride a quad in silverlake.
I will have my 88 stock duner and the brother inlaw has a stock 86 duner also so bring your stock 88 along with the pilot if you happen to come that weekend!

Beautiful 88 Frank, thing is so clean! Any plans for it? I'd be tempted to wrap that thing in plastic - store it - and build another.

Yeah the all stock ones that are survivers should just be kept that way IMO and build another bike for mods. They truly are still very fun bikes when left all stock.

The second week of october can be real iffy, sometimes its mid 70's and perfect other times you better bring your winter jacket, but my 12 year old nephew said he was riding that weekend no matter what lol. He has been going up there since he was born and now he finally gets to ride with us.

Welcome to the site Frank. PS has been dead for a while. You will find all us hard core 250r boys here working on the new builds. Pete is finished with my Baby Saber and I just have to make an intake manifold for the Smart carb. Hope you enjoy the site.

Yes this one is staying stock. but I do have a 87 roller with 12 inch swing arm drag a arms  and Marvins all around. Just need a power plant for her. so many options.
