Title: Seat cover advice, What you like?
Post by: Transmatic on September 12, 2014, 12:49:05 PM
I've got an oem seat with no cover on it. The previous owner of the seat shaved it down, taking off of the top about 30-40% of the foam. He did a somewhat good job except the very back part dips down just a tad, but feels comfortable so I'm not worried. I like the thinner seat because it allows me to sit just a tad lower on the machine and at 6'5" that helps.

There are tons of options for seat covers so just looking for some opinions. I want to go with plain black, no writing. Don't want a gripper or hump. I'd like to go with red but I have oem plastic and most the red seats I see don't look like they match oem plastic correctly.

I am 6 3 and prefer the taller 88 89 vs the 86 87. I liked the FX gripper solid black that I had. I think it helped save the arms a little bit throughout the ride.

Thanks, I haven't been able to find a 100% black cover, no logos or anything so I shot Graves an email today. I did decide to use my good '88 oem foam instead of the shaved one I have, should sit a little better and look better too.

If you ask Quad Tech, they will remove any and all labels/logos from your seat

I really like this, looks great! I'll take Tbone's advice and contact the company directly and see if they will send without the little logo.

Edit: Received email back from FactoryEffex stating they won't sell cover without logo on it. This is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for so maybe I can just remove the logo with a seam ripper?

It is a rubber type logo that is stitched on.

Does it look like there's any room to slide a seam ripper/razor blade in to cut the stitching without cutting the actual seat? I can't believe how hard it has been to find a seat without any logos unless I have one custom made.

I do not have it to look at but if I remember right that would be easy to do.

Thanks man. Think I'll go ahead and order one and see how I like it. If it's not quite what I want I'll put in on my spare seat I keep laying around.
