Title: Puma or sabertooth? Which do you prefer for a drag hillshot motor and why?
Post by: Mickkey82984 on September 30, 2014, 08:33:34 PM
Which do you prefer for a drag hillshoot motor and why? Just trying to figure which is best for me. I hillshoot most the time but do about 25% flat drags, which is a better set up?

I got a trade offer for a 431 drag puma, but if I'm going to stay drag seems like I might as well stay with the saber. It seems like most do the pumas now though so I thought I try to get some opinions on which is better.

That's what I want to do but from the research I've done the sabers run really hot unless running alcohol.

Stock 86 frame with everything unneeded cut off. Shaws all the way around, plus 8 swingarm. It's only going to run on big weekend up here at the cinders, we have no drags events anywhere around Arizona.

Another thing to think about would be that you wont find yourself ever needing anything from the current advertised main saber source. IF getting what you might ever need from elsewhere became a problem due to others not wanting to deal with them. Also in a little way not at all advertising for them or unintentionally helping sales. This is just a minor piece of the decision and maybe nothing but it is how my twisted up mind works weighing all factors involved.

Did you call Nate? He has some very good knowledge about the Sabers. He will point you toward the Puma. Also who has this Puma and who was it built by may help you make a decision.

I did not get a chance to call him yesterday, i should have time today when i get off work.  Its seanoktm's puma on here, he bought it from derby from . net some years back. I'm pretty sure JDI does most his work. Its a great looking motor and has ran some good times from what I've seen.

I personally loved this part of his reply..

"Then again; "HONESTY" is a hard pill to swallow for some isn't it? 'DISHONESTY" is the easier path for those that just don't get it or care...!"

That is absolutely the best example of the pot calling the kettle black that I have ever seen.

The 2nd motor ran pretty good then would not start. After a week of trying I found he had removed the cr 250 Stator  plate and they did not thighten the bolts so the timing was way off and would not start. I also asked for hill shot drag porting and polished  cases got black cases and mx porting. And a claim drag porting won't work at 7000 feet even though I have friends with drag ported lt 500's and a couple 4mm drag banshees running up here no problem.

You guys don't even wanna know the BS PM's I've got from that BSing "builder"(BWAHAHA-that cracks me up calling him one) over the last week over sabers and I don't even own one and will NEVER build one. He hit me with all kinds of honesty chit too. Funny that it was coming from him, of all people. Guess he's been snooping on this forum trying to fig out the chatbox changes(in that thread), cuz that was where I had made my comment about the sabers. He must be really bored with not much work to be bothering me. I'm not a drag guy and have no interest in those motors. He wants me to try to disprove his "exclusive and sole distribution" of those sabers and etc... It's not even worth my time to try to! Guess I'm not the only one he's been bothering abt that? I didn't even plan on mentioning it cuz I don't wanna give them any free publicity.

Yeah he must even lie to himself, when he first showed up on the old site he was a xxx customer asking the dumbest newbie questions and then point everyone to his local builder xxx. Turns out he was the owner the whole time. The coc being honest lol never will happen.

My favorite quote why not support the company that saved the saber. In all reality he killed the saber, who would buy a saber from someone who has never built one and can't even build a puma right?

FYI.... I know where 3 brand new Saber cylinders are if anybody wants one. And the person who has them, has actually built a Saber.

Lies, lies, lies I tell you. XXX builds the worlds fastest Puma's. So fast, one has never been seen. As for all the Sabers he has built, there must be a fast one out there somewhere????Just have to find one he bought second hand built by Hybrid!

Now that the ass clown claims he has the Saber market cornered, i'd just buy a Puma if i were you. I wouldn't give him my pocket lint, much less my money
