Post by: Victork on October 08, 2014, 02:05:27 PM
I have a full chassis skid that isnt banged up but looks old. Im wondering which method is best at getting it to that clean new look. I dont want to polish it just make it look good again...

Ive used blue magic before. I dont want the skid plate to look polished/semi polished. I just want it to look similar to how it looked new

0000 steel wool.  Or 00 steel wool if it's really bad. It's what truckers use to knock the oxide off before polishing their tanks.

If you have any diesel trailer repair retailers near you, there are several different companies that make aluminum cleaner solutions. I buy "Aluma-Brite" from Utility Tralers here in Fresno. It is just a gallon jug of acid. I've heard that there are swimming pool products that will do the same thing but I don't know which ones.
