Title: New to Honda R
Post by: Chuckie25 on October 23, 2014, 09:39:06 PM
Well,,,,, I've been around them. This is my first time owning/building one.

Scooped up a 92 JP Outlaw chassis, +2 no-link swinger and PEP rear shock last night. All the mounts are cut off it so I'm gunna shoe horn in a CR500

Already have an engine on the way (85 CR5. Really rough, needs lots of love)

But I was wondering about the billet forward kick/counterbalanced cases from the other TRX site (I know there's a spat between .org and .net but I'm new to the Honda R social world so take it easy on me).

Does anyone have any info on those cases?

Anyway,,,,,  I'll post pictures as we get her squared away. Gunna scoop a set of blue Fullbore's when they get the new run done next month. Candy orange frame, black chrome a-arms and sub-frame. Mmmmm

Arite,, lol done rambling now.
Y'all have a great day/night!

May actually go with white plastics now,,, just because no one around has white Fullbore's lol

All the plastic mount tabs are cut off as well. So I'll mod the sub-frame up for a flip back rear fender

Aloha!
I recognised your name from the QR forums. Your JP outlaw is awesome to say the least.

The billet cases you speak of is a one off. The guy rarely post stuff.

Aloha!! Great to see familiar faces around!

It's not much to see at the moment but thank you! I'm kinda itchy to get this one done. My zilla was too much of a purpose built oval track bike to ride but this one will be just an all out play machine.

Major bummer on the cases.... I may ask Mart if he can make some like his,,, he had a lot of time in those though.. Thank you for the answer, sir!

There will be lots of white when the order is ready. There are many with a set on order including me. Welcome to the site. Lots of great members here who like to help with questions. Build threads are what we all enjoy. Hope to see yours complete

Yea the white list is getting larger. I meant in my area though lol

Arite: first question,,

Does the stock airbox work with a 500 and a no-link? Or will I need to make something work?

Usually with most aftermarket rear end set ups the stock air box will not clear the suspension travel. Shoot even the stock rear suspension will hit the air box on a hard landing.

Funny you mentioned those billet cases. That same member posted a billet swing are this morning.

The OEM airbox should work with the CR500 or OEM link. It will definitely not work with the no-link.

Are you trying to make a choice about whether to go no-link or CR500? Because i'll save you the trouble and suggest you go with the CR500 link

I already have a no-link swinger and shock. Frame has the tab for CR5 link though

Do yall think a 450R rear carrier would bolt into this swinger?
