Title: 2015 Calendar Thread (questions answered here!)
Post by: Fear250r on November 09, 2014, 01:20:45 AM
Hello fellow R enthusiasts and welcome to the official 2015 250r calendar thread!

I'd first like to thank everyone that has participated in the past and made the last five years a great success. If you're new to the board, do a calendar search in the 250r section on exriders to see what we've done over the past.

If anyone would like to add dates of events that would go along with our community, say, major race events, dunefest or whatever you can think of, please feel free to forward any info you have to me.

As always, the plan is to have calendars to everyone by christmas. To make that happen, we need to get things right going in, so please read everything below.

1. Take a picture of your R or R's. This can be a quad or atc. Anything 250r from 85-89.
- Use your camera's highest resolution. Shoot for at least using a 6 megapixel camera.
- The resolution issue really can't be stressed enough. You can take a low-res image and enlarge it, but you don't gain any resolution in the process, you'll just get a larger, fuzzier image. We need good enough resolution to get good output from which to print.
- Another thing that may be an issue, if you use Outlook, is that it may ask if you want to resize the image when you send it. This is almost always making the image smaller so it will transmit more quickly. If you see this pop-up, then select "keep image original size" from the drop-down.

2. The subject of the picture is your R. It has to be your R that you submit.
- It can be a still pic, racing, hillclimbing, duning, whatever you'd like to use! And honestly, sometimes a great background can make the picture. For example, the cover of last years calendar.
- You don't have to be the photographer, only the owner of said R.
- No photoshopping to change the nature of the shot. This refers to things like you jumping the riverboat like the Kangaroo Kid, there's only one Kangaroo Kid and it ain't you.
- Please don't crop the image. If you want the final image to be cropped, let me know and I'll make sure it gets done in the end. Sometimes we need all the resolution we can get and cropping will reduce the pixel count.

3. Include the following info with your submission.
- Your first name
- Your board name
- Model and year of quad
- Any of specifics you'd like to include
-As far as specifics, I'm mostly shooting for frame and motor work if any. I appreciate the insanely detailed lists I have received in the past, however, all that info won't make it. Just need the basics.

4. Submit your picture by...not quite sure when I'll stop taking pics but I will let everyone know when we're getting close. I'd say around the end of October/early November.
- PLEASE SEND ONLY 1 PICTURE.
-I don't want to pick a picture for you. I, just like everyone else, have a different taste. Pick out a pic that you like the best!!

5. Voting for the 12 main pictures will start shortly after I'm done receiving pics. I will let everyone know when we will start. I usually let that run for a couple weeks.

Please send your submissions to:

Fear250r@me.com

I will confirm receipt of every submission. If you haven't heard from me in a couple days, shoot me an email or ask me over here.

We also need other shots for the extras. Works in progress, engines, details, whatever you'd like to send. These are not voted on and will be used at our discretion.

Orders will be taken from the time of voting until it's ready to go to print. You'll have plenty of time to decide if you want one/more depending on what quads are in it.

Price. I need to check if paper has gone up (what hasn't) but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to keep it at the $15/16 range. The biggest factor is shipping. It seems to never stop going up...

I think that about covers it. Any questions, feel free to ask!

Jesse

Submit a pic anyways. The are secondary pics in black and white in the months number area where Jesse fills in more pics than just the monthly header. He puts in motors, builds and other cool 250r stuff that does not make the months winner.

Exactly!! Thank you Tony!!

I've only received a few pics people!! Always nice to have plenty of pics to choose from!! Makes it that much harder to decide!!

I'm kinda busy lately, so if I don't respond right away, don't worry. If its been a few days, shoot me another email asking if I got it, it'll remind me. As always, feel free to ask any questions!!

Also, remember guys, a great background can turn your run of the mill R into a GREAT picture!!

Ok everyone, time to get those last minute submissions in!!  All pics must be submitted by this Saturday, Dec 6th.  Then I'd like to set up the voting over the weekend as well.  We'll vote for a little over a week, then I'll get it started.  Once the top 12 are voted on, I'll start taking orders!  As always, any questions, shoot me a pm or an email.  Email is quickest...Thanks!

Sorry, but I didn't have time this year to email company's to acquire stickers for everyone.

If any sponsors here would like to send me stickers to distribute, I'd be happy to take them to add with calendar orders!

I don't think we have to worry about that particular sponsor this year Hawaiiysr

Personally, I don't give a rip about stickers.  I have a huge ziplock full of stickers over the past 20 years.  The days of plastering my quad with them are long gone, I think they look soooo much better with just plain plastic.  I start getting some sponsorship $$$ then I'll put their stickers on.  Otherwise it's just free advertising or worse being completely fake with laeger, FMf, lrd, pep, axis, etc on a completely stock quad.   End rant

Tldr- don't worry about sending stickers with calendars

No, certain "sponsor" will not be associated with the calendar this year.

Atvmxr - (in the soup nazi accent)  "NO STICKERS FOR YOU!"

The stickers were more about being able to include a lil something extra in with the calendar.  Just trying to go the extra mile.  I know lots of people love stickers, so it seemed like the obvious choice.  How people use said stickers....well....that's their call.  haha

Stickers give my bike 10+ extra horsepower! I was really looking forward to them this year. I figured I'd be topping 100hp with my stock bore motor after adding a few more. A friend of a friend clocked my bike at 120mph too btw. I think the stickers got it an extra 5-10mph as well.

Ok, looks like we got ourselves a good line up!!  I received 28 entries!!

However...some pics I received are too small...I'm going through them now and will start emailing people.  I have no problem posting them up for voting purposes but if you are voted in, I will need larger pics. If you don't have larger files that I can use, I will have to move onto the next highest voted photo.  Not to sound harsh, but we just don't have the time to photoshop the shit out of your pic.  Please be sure when you send the photo to send at the highest file size (MB) you can.  Do not send a smaller version to get it to me quicker.

Also, I believe I have some pics where people have played with the contrast before sending them to me...for future reference, please refer to my original post.  What you believe looks great on your screen doesn't mean it looks great on paper.

I'm going to start loading these up now so hopefully we can all start voting on them tomorrow!!

Thanks

Jesse
