From what I've read before people have ran yfz nerfs on our quads. Here's my situation since it might differ from some.
I'm doing a complete gusset kit right now so I'll have to repowder later. I decided to remove stuff, move stuff and modify stuff on the frame. One of these mods will be including the nerfs.
I will make adapter plates to fit. Then I will cut off the tubes supplied, remove the chrome and weld them at the appropriate (1986 stock) location. I have also never liked using longer hardware for running nerfs nor did I like my AC nerfs rubbing my coating in the frame. So, I'll lop off the tubes for the front mount brackets and weld them into the frame.
This modification will give me a stock frame with a pro peg style mounting platform. The mounts will be powdered with the frame.
I planned on welding the peg tubes but I forgot the rear brake pedal attaches behind the plate.
Here's the Rock Pro Series nerfs(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/10/7a82d2e883da1ab6df91314e08ba92b6.jpg)

A pic showing how the tube (no mount bar) and gusset mesh. I'll even weld the tube and gusset together. (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/10/6d742caf5c057cca5735423448b9417a.jpg)
A pic of it in stock location.

Should be a slick set up!

Well, due to the restrictions on what I could cut off of the tube, I can't line up the holes on the bar and nerf. I'll be drilling a hole in a different location.
Here's the stock mount cut and ground flat. Next is getting rid of the excess material and cleaning it all up.(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/10/519856b5e1d685cb183b619ecb6c8278.jpg) (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/10/12870ed57194c587a5f0249650fa9c2a.jpg)

Looks cool & custom fabrication is even cooler.

So basically I've got one finished. The top two pieces together make the bottom one!(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/10/65fd861b1de91c8134a1feb317a37e6b.jpg)

By the way, the front mount will not fit our bikes. The bracket is too long. All you have to do though is drill a new hole and trim down the metal.
Below are pics in position. Still have to make new hole for peg area and weld the front. The backside of the front tubes will be capped off flush with the frame.

Disclaimer: the nerfs actually sit back 1 1/8" inch from stock. No higher, just back due to preference. I preferred it butt up against the gusset for clean lines.

Both peg mounts made. Welding up front will occur after I knock out some stuff tomorrow. Gotta torch the powder to remove it in the crevices so I can weld clean. As for now, here's how she sits. Really? I knew I've seen it before. How did they line up? Now, I think everyone calls pro peg something different. I always thought it was the wider and fatter pegs. Then I heard it was having the front tube built into the frame so the nerfs could slide into them. Regardless, the mod to fit was simple and with buying Tony's bracket and drilling the hole in the front bracket at a new location it would be very easy.
I did find out something when I exposed the front tube at the same length on the right side as the other side. It didn't reach the same point in the inside of the frame. So I looked at the main tube at the peg mount and noticed on the right side it sticks out further from the frame. I guess it's because of the brake pedal and stuff.
This being said, my nerfs stick out further on the right by 1/4". They did the same on my last set as well. I just never noticed it until now.

I like the nerfs with heel buckets and the way you have modified the stock foot peg mount. Its hard to make a dedicated mount for nerfs since there are so many choices. Not everyone can weld so it makes it hard for those who can't. Looks freakin awesome. No ones gonna notice a 1/4". Its also real nice they already come PC'd black.

Thanks tony. Yeah, who knows what fits what so I put the welder to use and had some fun. Been having a good time putting your gusset kit in. Just been bouncing around from mod to mod.
Working on my stenciling of my aluminum air box in my living room now! I need to get with you on the reservoir mounts. I sent ya a pm.
I rolled it out today to clean the garage. Gives a little better view. (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/11/46f77a24da9e4b6ec48c79eea7b7e3f3.jpg)
