Will this work? Just wondering cause I have a really nice 86-87 seat and about to buy an 88 frame. Would like this to work if possible so I don't have to buy another. Thanks in advance for the help. All you guys are really knowledgable on here and I appreciate all the great info. Thanks

i use a 86-87 seat on my LRD frame and works just fine. I use the short rear rubber cushions

Great. That's what I wanted to hear. In another month or so I'm gonna start my build thread. Just need a few more parts an I can get started finally. Taking way longer than I thought and even more money but I'm sure you all know that with the killer bikes everyone has on here!

I had issues using a 86-87 seat and latch on an 88-89 stock frame. The latch setup is different and I wasn't able to use the 88-89 latch on an 86-87 frame. So I used the 88-89 seat :D

An aftermarket latch would fix that
-
Hadn't thought of that. You say aftermarket, the ones that eliminate the latch hook all together like the one pumashine offers or lonestar?
-
Ya either kind.and I will tell u the old worn out OEM latches cam fail and let Your rears fly right off the Trailer.
-
I use a billet HMF latch. Pumashine can sell you a complete kit garanteed to work with your seat and frame though.

thats good. I have a really nice seat I want to use. I didn't know if the dimensions where slightly different on each year which would not let the earlier year seats work on the newer frames. After going back an forth I decided to use the 88 frame instead of the earlier 86.

An aftermarket latch would work - I used an 86 seat with an OMF knob latch on a LSR frame - worked perfectly.

Same here, 87 seat on an 88 frame with a Pumashine mount. Works perfectly.
