Title: ESR 330 +4 stoker users, Are you Satisfied with this setup?
Post by: mrtwidster1 on November 26, 2014, 10:11:46 AM
Looking to go with the ESR 330 +4 stoker. From my research this looks like a decent set up for my ATC build.
Casual rider mostly trail and woods. Just looking for opinions on those that have this set up. I talked to Eddie and this what he recommended also.
Thanks

I last had a 330pv 5mil trx9 build by esr. It ripped. If I was doing another now I would go with the good off the shelf 4mil crank and a 350 or 330 pv trx9 by eddie. Pv or no pv is up to you, I like them on the bb's as well.

Can't comment on the ESR cylinder specifically but a 76mm Pro-X with a 76mm crank is a strong motor!

Will keep you updated Tim. You reminded me that I bought a red blank inspection cover also. So now i can sell my inspection cover that says TRX esr. Eddie took my order over the phone, very helpful and professional.
He is also sourcing another Powdercoater.  He says he gets a lot of folks asking about powder coated parts. He is checking so that my parts can be coated prior to machining in the CNC.

I have one on my other atc but I am going to go with my Jemco. I will try both I am sure. (May even try out my Selvys) I believe LED makes big bore in frames for them.

I bought a non engraved inspection cover that will replace the TRX logo. This motor is for my ATC hybrid build. I will also put a ESR Pump cover instead of the merrill on it due to the color difference. Will also buy a few other ESR "Goodies"

Eddie recommended the PV also. Just took his advice on what I needed. Just going to be a casual rider so no major porting.

Haven't decided on the finish yet. leaning toward polishing because my original motor for this looks good.

How do the cases look?  Looks like the side case profile lines up pretty well against the cases.  I like the bolts!

The cases look good in my opinion for being sand cast. The alignment with the clutch cover is good. I do not have any alignment dowels in place yet. I am going to take more detailed pics today or this weekend. If there are no assembly issues (and I have no reason to think otherwise) then i believe that the cases are a smokin deal at 599 with all the bearings and the seals. Mr Eddie uses the 8 ball CR crank bearings.
The sand casting is rough but can still be polished out. It will just take extra time. I am pretty sure I will be polishing
everything and adding some white highlight somewhere. I was going to have him leave the bearings and seals out for powder coating but his source fell through at that time. He went ahead and put them in, but in hindsight i should have told him not too. I will now have to protect everything from the dust that will be produced during the sanding and polishing process.
I will most likely buy the ignition cover from him also.

Just want to add this note.. The website does not show the 330 pv stroker kit. I called him and he hooked me up (at a very good price I might add). He also has a limited supply of "blank no logo" clutch inspection plates.
He also gave me a red e brake block off plate and a jet wrench.
I also asked him about putting the powervalve "Plug" in if I wanted to do away with the PV. He said that I would loose bottom end but it could be plugged with no mechanical issues.

What porting did you go with? How do you like your setup?
