I ripped the clutch apart on my 87, the stock basket fingers are grooved pretty badly. I could machine them, but it seemed better to just put a Hinson basket in it. Which leads to this topic, any advice on best method to separate the basket from its drive gear?

you might want to give the Barnett basket with the ss inserts ....have heard all good about them
I was a little disappointed in the billet Hinson, ive got at least 4 on the shelf and on the quad, or I would be buying the Barnett ones

No kidding? Are the Hinsons not holding up very well? Maybe I'll must machine the fingers down then and save myself 230 bucks, the quad is mostly stock anyway; 150psi compression and an ESR pipe is about it.

My Hinson's have lasted no longer than oem.Filing the grooves out is an option but will only buy you a little time, because of the slop, the grooves will be pounded back in quickly.

Right, true. So I'm assuming I need to drill or grind off these rivet heads?
