Title: Silverlake 2015
Post by: Flyin_250r on December 05, 2014, 09:37:21 AM: Just wondering if it's going to happen again next summer. It'd be nice to plan it in advance again like you guys did last year. Unfortunately I book my holidays in January/February for the year and the summertime always gets taken fast!

So hopefully someone picks a weekend sometime soon! I doubt I'm the only one in the same boat. Also is it going to be some xc riding or just dunes again? Someone mentioned the Baldwin trails I think it's called?

Come on man. That's your job. Im just trying to drop a hint for you to get on it lol. I'd really like to make it this summer. I work shift work, so I'm only off every other weekend so it's tough.

I'm ok with either weekend. whatever we choose I'm going to be there a day earlier. staying at the Silver Sands Resort.

It would be a good combo for those driving from a distance to hit up both spots. I am in again this year for the weekend for sure. Last year was great let's see if we can duplicate it!

Above 75 is way too hot for me......Worked out perfectly last year though. I actually have never been to baldwin so that would be fun also. But I would bring my trail R for that one....

Currently there is a silver lake sand dune association being formed of many business owners and a few avid duners to partake in these meetings. I'm working on Becoming a part if this. Regardless of what happens, we will be able to get everyone in the dunes!!!! So do not let this sway your opinion of coming. My wife now works 1/4 mile from the voucher station. We will have you a covered!

All are invited! We have a cottage in which we all hangout at for fire and wine tasting :) where you sleep is on you though as the cottage isn't big enough for all.

The back of your truck is fine. I have never had anything taken from me up there. Generally a pretty good group of people. Save the fuel man!

Jeremy I have a stainless plate that attaches to the tabs on a rear bumper(same tabs as a number plate) that I put my stickers on. If I use a different quad, I just transfer that. I've also used a plexi plate too. Costs to get into the park will be about $50 one time cost. Then a flag of we run out of spares will be $15-25.

I suggest goggles. Sand gets everywhere. Some wear sun glasses but not recommended. Goggles with some tint especially a yellow tint helps during the day hours when the sand tends to blend in and looks the same with no contrast. Very hard to see and read the bumps and jumps. Tint helps that.

You may get a newbe ranger danger and he will use his finger to check. That is always funny to see them burn themselves

I am sure it would not be a good idea to use it with a big bore pipe though. Thats the one that I would lend you. I have the "Q" versions also which are supposed to be quieter but they are also a lot longer.

I used a turbine core fmf in May at Silver lake and had no issues. I was running it with my ESR 6 mated to a Duncan 275 powervalve and it worked well. They weren't checking sound the two days I was there.

Doug that will work perfect.. Just be sure to check it after a couple runs to be sure it's not clogging up if ur running fat.

Ya I have haulers, 8 paddles on hipers however I have to find my extra lug nuts. Otherwise I have 10 paddles on Douglas aluminum.

We set up base camp out on the flats by the beach, too hot and dusty in the parking lot. Plus the event on Sat. for the disabled veterans was were the only shallow spot was to get across the gigantic puddle and they wouldn't let anyone through. Since I don't run an airbox lid on my R I ended up having to pull out my Predator so I wouldn't suck in water. got some pics on Friday.

Great to meet some new people, Craig, Jeremy, Jacob, Wayne, Emery & Joe (Sky's son).

Doug, I was bummed you couldn't make it. Heard you had motor troubles. Hopefully next year buddy!

And it was nice to see last years gang, Marc, Joe, George, Brad, Tickle, Doug, Joel, Sam, Daryll, Jon and Jamie.

We were a little disorganized this year...hopefully next year we can coordinate a little better. Maybe get ourselves some sort of schedule and definitely a time for the group pic. It just kinda happened by chance this year and we missed a few people.

Also, be nice to hit some trails next year as well. I know we talked about it last year, but again, things fell through the cracks. With this many people getting together, it's tough to schedule on the fly.

Regardless, still had an awesome time and can't wait to do it again!

Maybe later in the year when it's a little cooler...damn was it hot out there...
